Aah, was wondering about that. Thanks for the update RD.

So that means we also get #36 and #51 in the 2nd round? I also just looked and we are not projected to receive any compensatory picks in the 2023 draft via an article from May 2022, but that I guess could change. FYI, Compensatory picks happen from rounds 3-7.

Here's a link for all of our current picks.

I don't think that's current. Your link has us with the #53 overall instead of #51.

That doesn't make sense at all, does it?

Yeah, I thought it was strange, too. Obviously, it was done several weeks ago and hasn't incorporated the results of Wild Card Weekend.

I'm not sure of the exact slotting of our 2nd round picks. I think that if they have to use a tiebreaker, like they did with Denver and the Rams' identical 5-12 records, that they give the team that lost the tiebreaker the higher slot on the succeeding round then alternates throughout the draft. For example, the first tiebreaker is worst winning percentage in head-to-head competition, and since the Rams beat the Broncos, Denver is getting the #5 pick while the Rams are at #6. If what I am thinking is true, then the Rams would pick ahead of Denver in the 2nd round, meaning that they'd get the 36th overall while we get the 37th.

Same goes with our 2nd round pick. Both us and Miami finished with identical 9-8 records, but since there was no head-to-head competition, the next tiebreaker would be the worst strength of victory, and since our SOV was worse than the Fins', we'd get the higher 2nd round pick since they don't have a first rounder.

If someone has information to the contrary, I'd appreciate it if they'd correct me.

However you want to look at it, 5 picks in the top 100 is a good opportunity to add some quality and depth. I am optimistic.

We may well not be taking anyone at that #5 spot:

Chris Cluff @CHawk_Talk
#Seahawks 12 GM John Schneider already open for business in the draft.
On @SeattleSports: "In terms of moving around, the value of that (No. 5) pick is really important. ... There's a lot of compensation that comes your way up there."

Could be some movement. I can imagine them moving up to #2 or 3 to get a QB if there is one they have to have, but more likely would be a move down to add picks. This draft is not as strong in the top 10 as most years, but the middle rounds has some real strength. A move down, keeping two firsts, and adding something in the middle rounds, and maybe a first next season.

Still, I will continue to hope for Levis, Stroud or Richardson.

It wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if we got a deal like the Dolphins got when the Niners traded up to get Trey Lance for us to move down 10 or so spots.

10 spots would be a killer for this draft after salivating over the 5th pick, but if we got next years 1st included then maybe it would be palatable.
Every draft has tiers of talent and this years top tier looks like it ends around 6 or 7. The tiers get more populated the further down the draft it goes.

It seems to me that any player we get will take a couple of years to make an impact, be it QB, DL, or IOL. RBs and WRs can often make an early impact and we've seen Woolen play well right from the start, but that and our OT's are real
exceptions in the NFL.
