Not a good start, 3 & out despite 9 yards from K9 on the first play ...

We're too predictable in 2nd and 3rd and short. We run every time and SF is expecting that.

Direct snap to Walker for a first down! Brilliant! I'd like to see creative play calling like that more often. Gotta figure out ways to use SF's aggressiveness against them.

3rd time's a charm, nice drive. Walker's looking good. Weather doesn't seem to be much of a factor. Defense has yet to force a punt even though Purdy looks out of sync.

Wow, great play! It looked like Ward was expecting Metcalf to break that one off. Blitz was on, one-on-one on the outside.

We finally get to see Metcalf's speed pay off. They'll double him from here on out so that should free up Lockett.

Shock the world we will!

And for the love of the football gods, please draft us a LB or SS who can bring the hammer. And some vicious D-line.

Finally, we get a stop!

I'm not impressed with Purdy at all. That 3rd down pass was thrown into heavy traffic. We get a little pressure on him, we should be able to get a turnover.

He really didn't run away with him. It looked to me like Ward was expecting him to break it off and it caused him to hesitate just enough to allow Metcalf to get a step on him. They had a blitz on so they were expecting the ball to come out quicker. Kudos to the OL keeping Geno clean by picking up the blitz.

True, but Ward couldn't gain ground on him after the catch and it was a long enough play for that to have happened but Metcalf's speed prevented it.

I'll take holding 'em to a FG there, there was a real danger of them doubling up with 2 tds bookending halftime

Boy, Purdy looks horrible, over throwing receivers, jamming balls into tight windows, breaking the pocket when he doesn't have to. He's 9-19 so far in the first half.

Man, stupid penalty on the Niners! What a dumb chit!

That was a bad decision by Geno to run with that little time left, but he got bailed out. But yeah, great half!

Like the announcers said, little mistakes in a close game can make a big difference. That penalty on Ward, next to the one in the Packers game last week, was the stupidest penalty I've seen this season. That penalty isn't committed, time runs out, and the Niners lead at the half. If we win this game by less than a FG, you can bookmark that penalty.

Agreed. They should have called it a TD then it would have been automatically reviewed as a scoring play.

Man, that drive took up over half of the 3rd quarter. CMC has 90 yards on 11 carries.

One thing is for sure: Hawktawk can't b**** about the officiating in this game. Did you see Walker push that defender out of the way? Zero penalties called on us so far.
