Which is what could happen if they used your solution, ie to flip a coin.

The only fair way to resolve the problem would have been to complete the suspended game, but once they took that option off the table, someone was going to get screwed.

I think they already had the best solution in the rule book and that's a win % test. If they want to change the rules, wait until the end of the year when every team has an equal say and time to discuss it properly.

It would have been better than the solution they came up with, but it wasn't the best solution, either.
