Geno 4K

Geno becomes the second man in franchise history to pass for 4K yards joining Russ who did it 4 times . He did it in 16 games too. Relatively modest total comparatively speaking but still , for a garbage dumpster find 4 k yards and 29 TDs with 1 to play , still alive for the playoffs in week 18.
Not too shabby .
Anyone catch Geno postgame ? He sought out Zach Wilson , gave him a big hug and spent 30 seconds or so talking to the kid , clearly encouraging him .
I don’t know what’s the right thing to do with Geno going forward . Franchise ? 2 or 3 year deal ? Let him test the market ?

What I do know is I love the guy . Always a hawk . One of our all time great qb stories in our history.

I’ve really enjoyed how genuine the man acts . How thankful he seems . He made a million dollars in incentives yesterday and the first thing he did was go hug the least popular guy on the other team , lift his spirits .
Truly enjoyed Geno this year . So far . Go Detroit !

Let the market define what he's worth and don't re-sign him before hand.

But I think we will panic and over pay for him. We have a history of doing that with players and it will bite us in the butt fairly quickly.

I haven't seen the Seahawks overpay people too often. Pete and John are pretty disciplined with contracts. We don't often get saddled with huge contracts the team can't get out of. The worst contract I've seen is Jamal Adams given what he is doing here and the draft capital we gave for him. Otherwise, Pete and John have been real disciplined setting us up with quality contracts and flexible cap space.

I think the F tag is about 31. It would be twice as much money as a Geno has made his entire career . Carr made 40 and got benched . We know all the 50 million guys with a mixed bag of results .

I’m looking forward to the Rams game as I want as much information on Geno as possible . I don’t know what to do . Someone will make a run if we leave him on the market .
But he’s gonna be over 30 TDs , probably 9 wins, should have been more .
He picked a bad time to put a couple bad games together . But for perspective on yesterday we lost scoring 23,24,32,34 points . If we miss the playoffs it’s not Genos fault .

I think he’s worth F tagging for sure . A 2 or 3 year commitment at 30 per ? He’s having a career year but pushing 33 and no other history playing at this level . I don’t know about that . It’s a hard decision .

My op isn’t so much what should we do with the guy as what a pleasant surprise and enjoyable guy to follow on and off the field .

We’ve had some great stories , Krieg from a defunct college , Hass getting a second chance . Russ of course is one of the craziest routes to stardom in league history .
But this Geno story has resonated around the league. If he’s one and done here I wish him well. There’s a lot more depth of character and intelligence then I ever realized .

I’m starting to come around on re-signing Geno. Thanks to Russell, we can get a game wrecker on dline that will change this team’s make up for years. Build around Geno!
