The roster is going to change. We have two first rounders, two second rounders, and we have the third most cap space in the league, so we can be a player in free agency. If we play our cards right, we have a heck of an opportunity to improve this roster like we did back in 2010-2011 when we didn't have near the draft capital that we'll have this spring. Besides, if we bring Geno back, the expectation would be that Levis would sit most of his first year.

If we sign Geno for 2 or 3 years for 30 per I’d expect they plan to start him . I’ll trust Pete and john but I’d rather have 2 beast defenders with those first 2 picks . It’s as rare to have a chance to take top defensive talent as ( supposed ) top qb talent . We went to 2 Super Bowls with a 5’10 runt third rounder . The GOAT was 6th round. It will be fascinating to see how it plays out . If they are taking Levis I think franchise Geno and get him ready for 24. Geno may not like it and I don’t blame him but if his numbers recover down the stretch Seattle won’t be the only team interested . Other then rushing he has better personal stats then Josh Allen who we need to burn a couple first rounders to get the next one .
Glad I don’t have to figure it out .

For me it doesn’t have to be Levis. It could be Stroud or someone else that looks to have most of the tools. ObS has mentioned
Richardson who sounds a lot like Josh Allen but isn’t as polished as Levis. A great athlete with a real good arm, but he needs more work than Levis. RD is right that he or any other QB would have a year or more to develop before being sent into the fray.
It’s a long term pick unlike other teams that don’t have a starter. The QB I’m not in favor of is Bryce Young from Alabama.
He’s too tiny. If he was around 205 lbs I wouldn’t have a problem, but he’s said to be around 180lbs.

God I hope they don’t do something that dumb, but they have bid against themselves before.

He’s gonna laugh at that . Spotrac has him around 30 per , Jarred Goff performance and money . As I say he will have people ready to pay a lot more unless he absolutely tanks these last 3. I’ve seen numerous teams linked to him . So north say we low ball Geno and someone else signs him what do we do ? Throw a rookie out there ? Start Lock? Is he even under contract ? You undervalue Geno a bit I think .

Lock is a free agent at the end of this season.

We'll see how it goes with Geno. If you're right and he gets offers of $30M+, I'll pass. That's way too much for a 33 year old bridge QB that hasn't looked all that great lately. But if he comes in around $20M, I'd go ahead and sign him up for a couple of years.

I understand the hesitation with a 1st round qb, it really is a crapshoot. However, I think hitting on RW as a 3rd rounder might have skewed our vision. Look at the starting qb's this week in the league, about 2/3 of them are 1st rounders. Guys like Brady, Russ and Dak are the outliers, not the norm. According to Pro Football Reference, 8 of the top 10 in QBR rating were 1st rounders.

Picking in the top 5 or thereabouts is rarified air for this organization, I say take a shot on a qb while you can, especially Levis or Richardson.

From Geno viewpoint I would think the guaranteed money would be the deciding factor. It’s his last chance to set himself up for the rest of his life.

You overvalue him a bit I think. He is not a franchise qb period.

I am so tired of guaranteed contacts for a game that is not a contact sport, its a collision sport. You start paying out GT to players, especially defensive players, and you are doomed. Look at the bath that AZ is going to take on Murray's contract.

Like it or not guaranteed contracts ain't going away, in fact they are moving toward much more guarantees. 100% guarantees will be commonplace soon, eventually they will be the norm, at least for QB's.

If Geno were franchised for 30 it would be around twice as much in one year as his 10 years in the league

I’m tired of lots of stuff about this game but that bridge was crossed long ago . Besides in what we all know as a violent sport with billions in revenue shouldn’t a young man have some security? If he’s hurt so badly he can’t do physical work much less play just trash them . Good luck telling Geno or anyone that .
I have a problem paying a washed up Ahole in Green Bay , or a pervert in Cleveland a guaranteed quarter billion or a fat little mercenary 160 guaranteed . Or a malcontent Smurf now out a year . This was insanity .
I mean , good for them but it’s insanity based on the results . Watson got his first win scoring 13. Geno has lost scoring 23-24-32-34. He’s easily outplayed the guys I mentioned .

He’s not getting paid to be one as spotrac has him at 30 give or take , Goff money , 10 mil less per year than Carr. but my guess is even after last 2 games he leads the league in Completion %, top 5 qbr #1 in throws past the sticks , # 1 in air yards . Top 4 scoring offense with no run game last 5 games

He has 26 TDs with 3 games left . Nearing 4k passing yards . 9 picks at least 2 bogus ones but some dropped ones . Allen has 11 picks and I believe 29 or 30 TDs . Very close . Not saying he’s Allen , love his game but Geno has very decent wheels . He has 17 starts now . 32 TDs 10 picks . Probably a 100qbr or better . Set a record for consecutive games with over a 60% completion ration and qbr above 80. Most of the 12 straight games he was far above those numbers including a record of 3 straight over 80% completion .

. I don’t know WTF a franchise qb is anymore with the insanity of 50 million guys but you put Geno on the saints or panthers or broncos , colts , titans, raiders you win a lot of games with 30 million man . We would too with any semblance of defense or run game . Unless he falls off a cliff he’s getting a raise somewhere

All of MLB's contracts are fully guaranteed so long as the player abides by the terms, so it would seem that the NFL is likely to go in that direction. I know that if I were a player, I'd opt for a significantly smaller total sum in lieu of it being fully guaranteed.
