Any position can produce a bust. Remember Manderich? I would prefer to take a chance on the most important position.

Or “can’t miss “ Aaron Curry?

Any position can bust, the high round QB draft busts are a long, long list of sadness. My buddy and I were looking over 1st round QBs draft over the last ten years and my goodness it is a sad list of bust after bust after bust, especially in the top 5. No position is as overhyped as the QB position so moderately good QBs get drafted high and the team gets locked in to a Qb that might not be ready on a team lacking talent who is expected to turn things around with immense pressure. We don't need to do that as Geno works as long as we have a decent team around him.

Mahomes was picked number 10.

Josh Allen was number 7.

It's a QB driven league and game, so teams will take more chances with a QB than other positions simply because it's that important.
Passing by top QBs when you are in need of one in the hopes of finding another Brady, Wilson, or even Cousins isn't something that GMs want to do.
So when the most important position in football or maybe pro sports is in need of an upgrade, the chance has to be taken that your scouts and film work is correct.
Add to it that there are very few QBs that are very good and it becomes even more important to take one early. I think that's why there are so many busts at QB, not enough supply to fill the demand.
