If John don't finally get GM or league exec or whatever the award is of the year this year it'll be a crime. If not for this draft class alone, for it and making the deal that made it possible.
It was a marked departure from their past drafts. No player for draft pick trades. No trading down on draft day. Was that a coincidence, or did they have some sort of
Come to Jesus moment that caused them to reassess their ways?[/quote]
They had the capital and the players were there. We can choose to relitigate the years of tough drafts where the team still overperformed said lack of talent most years. Or we can look at 2 men who have apparently hit lightning in a bottle even more so than 2012. It is being called a "historic" draft.
In 10 years John and Pete have flipped the roster and laid the groundwork for a reload that hardly skips a beat. The 2 Tackles who have used their freakish natural gifts that are not coachable coupled with being very coachable are a huge foundation. 3 defensive studs including a HOF type corner , a HOF type RB assuming health.
They dont need to come to Jesus or anyone else. Their detractors do. They have spent 10 years leaving no stone unturned based on what was available and they hit and missed some LIKE EVERYONE but BFD. Far better coach and GM than we as fans not to respect that they are and they've hit it out of the park again. Wilson sequel.
And when it comes to the line I think a little bit more credit should be paid to Pete and John, primarily Pete for saying lets replace a beloved icon with Geno Freakin Smith. Even after an arrest.
Among the league best record setting accuracy, generally great decision making and timely scrambles(up to #8 rushing among QBs) there's another way Geno has really helped the entire offense. He gets his play ready early in the count so he has plenty of time over center before having to snap the ball. Gets to the line, Surveys his protection, makes line calls, and audibles if the defense calls for it. I've never seen another Seahawks QB seemingly as in control at the line pre snap, barking out orders in a clear voice. I think hes at half a dozen or so audibles to TDs, mainly runs but a couple of passes too. My 27 year old son who loved Russ, thought he wasn't slipping, hated the thought of Geno at QB, had zero faith in him was the one who started the discussion so its not just old crazy gloating Geno fan boy making the observation.
Hes a cool cat in the fight. Dude owns the huddle and line of scrimmage and Its got to help
