Panthers Fire HC Matt Rhule

Postby RiverDog » Mon Oct 10, 2022 8:40 am

The Panthers parted ways with Rhule this morning, after an ugly loss to the 49ers dropped them to 1-4 this season and 11-27 in Rhule’s two and a half years as the Panthers’ head coach.

Boy, it came pretty early in the season, didn't it? Why in the heck didn't they fire him in the offseason? Seems odd.

Sometimes owners get talked into the hype from coaches and mgmt, but now they can be near first in line for a good coach at the end of the season.
I hear Urban Meyer might be available!!!

They don't need to fire him this early to be in line for a good coach at the end of the season. They can't start talking to current NFL coaches until Week 17, so why fire a coach in early October?

The only thing I can think of is that they want to give their interim coach a good look-see. But even so, that's still a long way out to be firing a head coach.
