And the hits just keep on rolling.
He likely wasn't going to play in the preseason anyway, but he's out of practice for at least 5 days. At some point, he's going to need to get on the field and start getting some PT to work himself into game shape.
Few NFL players have had worse injury luck the last few years than Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny. While he finished the 2021 season on a strong note, he hasn’t been able to stay healthy yet this year. Penny has missed the first two preseason games due to a groin injury and will now have to sit out the third.
According to coach Pete Carroll, Penny has tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss Friday night’s preseason game against the Cowboys.

If it's not one thing, it's another. It doesn't sound like Penny is going to be coming out of the starting gate with 20-25 touches a game. Add in the situation with Walker and we'll be seeing a lot more of DJ Dallas and Travis Homer than anyone expected, at least initially.
This Covid issue hasn't gone away. They are supposedly trying to get a vaccine specific to the omicron variants approved by Labor Day, but I doubt that the league or teams go to the lengths they did last season to get everyone the poke. It is a near certainty to raise its ugly head at some inopportune time this season for some unfortunate team.
