As I've said time and time before, don't believe what comes out of a professional player or coaches' mouth, and that includes Russell Wilson, Pete Carroll, and who ever else that has had the limelight shown upon them. They will tell their audience whatever it is that they want to hear. Maybe it's true, maybe it's not.

With all that’s been said I’m actually surprised by this . Originally reported in USA Today . As image conscious as Russ is he’s got to understand how this looks and sounds . He cannot say the fans in Seattle didn’t support him, that the city doesn’t know how to win or want to win . Not even sure what that’s supposed to mean. He had a Lombardi in his second year in the league . Marino , Fouts, Jim Kelley , how many guys would have loved the misfortune of playing for Pete Carroll in front of the great passionate 12s . Does anyone care ? Still rooting for this guy ?

It appears he just likes talking about this trade to shape his narrative but the time for talk is coming to a close . He’s put up some serious blackboard materiel for the team and the 12s on the 12th . Thanks Russ for the parting gifts .

Every player tries to ingratiate themselves with the new fan base. It's part of pro sports and means nothing else.

You're reading things into that quote that doesn't exist. When Russell said that he "wanted to go to a city that wants to win", that doesn't necessarily mean that he thought that Seattle didn't want to win. It could very well mean that he wanted to go to a rabid fan base, like the Broncos, Packers, Steelers, vs. an apathetic one like the Chargers, Jets, Cards, Jags, even the Rams. With his no trade clause, he could pick and choose where he wanted to go, so it's likely an explanation as to what his priorities were in determining where he wanted to continue his career. I see no disrespect in that statement, and it would be extremely out of character for Russell to throw shade on an entire city. He's one of those types that wants everyone to love him, fans and opponents alike.

As your link said, it all depends on what your perception of Russell is/was. If you dislike him as you obviously do, then you're read into that remark that he thought that Seattle didn't want to win. For the vast majority of Seahawk fans that still hold a certain degree of affection for him, it's a no never mind.

I read that. Sounds more like Russ building up Denver fans than tearing down Seattle fans. But I can see how they wrote the article that they are trying to start crap between Russ and Seattle fans. Start a nice rivalry like the sports press likes to do.

I'm not much interested. Denver is Denver, Only time we'll face them is once every four years? And in the Super Bowl if they make it. I doubt they make it next year. I don't see the talent on Denver others see and they are in a tough division. If Russ does take Denver to the Super Bowl next year, boy, that will suck for us in so many ways.

Asea how do you feel about Sept 12? And anyone else who may be reading this? What are your feelings or are you still developing your opinion? Do you really not care that Russell Wilson is coming back on the 12th to face the 12s? Come on man.

Forget all the other crap. This city story is only in the news because Russ said these things and he knows damn well when he exchanges "city" for "team" its gonna make national sports news and tweak the 12s beak. Russ being Russ. Word salad. Kind of like Pete sometimes only much more so.

I see a litmus text for this trade week 1. Really its genius by the league. Seattle has a chance to flip the script immediately and prove a point. Denver and Russ have a chance to prove a point but the pressure is on them far more than Seattle. IMO they have to win the game or its a terribly rocky start for this dream team.. This game isn't a season but it really seems to me it sets a trajectory for the season for each team. Winning breeds winning. Losing breeds losing. I think regardless of whether Lock or Smith or someone else is behind center this is far from a guaranteed Denver win here due to the dynamic of Pete, his in depth knowledge of Russ and vice versa with Russ knowing his perceived strengths and weaknesses with a defense hes practiced against10 years..
I'm getting very excited. Curious if my hunch is right or just gas. If Russ comes out and plays like the Detroit game Ill just tip a cap. What were we supposed to do? he wanted out.
He isn't going IMO to because we aren't Detroit, far from it, were a sleeping giant. Pete isn't that Psycho Dan Campbell and Russ doesn't have the offensive weapons he had that evening in Seattle anymore. My best friend and I are researching tickets. Money isn't an object for him but it is for me but I wanna go.
