Russels greatest plays

Postby Hawktawk » Mon May 30, 2022 8:53 pm

I’ve caught some grief with my position on the trade but I was watching the whole 10 years . If I had to pick a greatest play it would be that action green snake backwards and throw a shortstop style feet off the ground ball to Baldwin who high pointed it and went off down the sideline vs AZ on TNF.

But I remember lots of others . Of all the crazy plays in the 2014 NFC championship I pick the 2 point throw to Willson that proved critical in the end . Falling out of bounds with guys in his face threw it all the way across the field to convert . After the game he said “I knew where he would be “ I’ve said many times that he should have been co mvp of 48 for the spotless game he played that day . But the play I remember is him saving the Lynch throwback rolling left and chest passing it towards zach Miller and saving a sack or grounding call .

The Golden Hail Mary . Lost in the FACT it was a touchdown the throw by Wilson was always overlooked . Spinning left and planting his foot , shark eyes downfield with Clay Mathew’s steaming down on him lofting a perfectly catchable ball that Tate caught as Russ was leveled by Mathews . The dagger to Rice to end the you mad bro game . I watched that on a 13 inch tv at pelican brewery in pacific city Oregon . Too many . The dude was entertaining , amazing .

As far as I'm concerned, Russ' greatest play has to be the frozen tundra wildcard game vs the Vikings, where late in the game, the ball is hiked over Wilson's head, but instead of falling on it, he picks it up on the run and heaves it downfield to Lockett, who takes it down and almost scores a TD. I can't see any other QB making that play, definitely not Rodgers or Brady.

Remember it very well watched it from the bar at sun mountain lodge . He did a slide grabbed it and popped up ram right and released it just before being tackled . There were complaints from the Vikings that then thought he was giving himself up. Oh well . Another play I remember was Baldwin pulling an OBJ insane 1 handed grab in that game .

That ridiculous grab from the same game was more of a great play from Baldwin than Wilson, but yes!

I went to the MNF game in 2011 against the Rams. Baldwin went off! I knew at that point he was something special. Yeah Russell’s greatest plays were probably 2012 & 14’ with his legs and long bombs. I weirdly don’t remember quite as much magic in 13 from Russ. The 2017 play in Arizona on TNF was spectacular; also to Baldwin

Russ dealt with devastating injuries throughout the line in the regular season in 2013 and probably carried the team as much in that time as any time in his career . Obviously HFA was huge . The LOB won some and Russ won some but with the injuries on the line it was pretty amazing .
