If Burrow were on the trade block he would dwarf what we got for Wilson. Its a word. Everyone in the league but me is still calling Russ a franchise QB and I dont think that's true anymore either. We will know soon.

I already know Russ is still a franchise QB. His production last year was still on a level most teams would kill for. All the playoff fall off is just other teams stepping up and our talent falling off.

You'll find out soon enough that one injury year by Russ isn't the end of him. It's more the end of Seattle as a playoff contender for a while, just like every single time in Seahawks history (and most team's histories) when we haven't had a competitive QB. Gonna be a nice, hard fall because the Eagles are not the team to emulate for playoff success no matter how many times they get brought up.

Though if we get Baker Mayfield, that might change things. I been looking at that guy. He seems like a legitimate starting QB who could probably take what we have here and make it shine. He's not quite Russ, but his career numbers are a lot closer than any of the guys we have now. I'm starting to think we are making a real run at Baker and maybe we'll get him.

Our guards were employing ZBS schemes in "springing" Penny for many of his quick second level explosions toward the latter part of the year...so even if we have poor QB play we still should be able to keep games close and not be blown out.

Possibly true but we’ve gone through how many DC’s - is it 3 and still have the same Defense.
Same story on Offense.
In an interview earlier Pete told a story about talking with John Wooden at USC and Pete asked
him about changing your philosophy and Wooden asked why would you change your philosophy?
It’s part of who you are and responsible for your success. So if Pete believes that then changes
might not be as much as people might expect or hope regardless of who the DC and OC are.

Hurtt didn't come here to be Carroll's lap dog nor did any of these other guys. He may be his successor.

Things have changed in that organization. Reading between the lines of public comments, analyzing the moves and PCs statements regarding them I believe he and JS have switched in the pecking order personnel wise. This excellent top 3 draft may be as a result of that as JS stayed with solid safe bets and dynamic players who fell, not selections that made people say WHAT?
I think JS was more in favor of trading Russ. I think it was his call to release Bobby. This is based on the public comments by both men. Mid year last year when it was in the toilet Pete admitted JS was doing the majority of the communication with Jodi and Vulcan and he rarely speaks to her unless asked to show up at a meeting.

I think the whole thing was a razor thin decision not to pull the pin and blow it up and Pete took the demotion rather than be fired. Had we not won 4 of 6, had the bust Penney show he might have been first round worthy etc. it would have been it for Pete. I think we will be far better defensively with young guys getting another training camp and this incredible draft haul. I think in light of that if we get 25 TDs and 10 picks out of our QB and he knows how to hand off to Penney and Walker we will win 10. Minimum.
Pete's last stand . Last resume for the Hall of fame.

Russel year last year was a mirage, an absolute disaster before and after the injury until the last 4 of 6 when he had a bell cow type back chunking teams for 671 yards . I think he threw about half his TDs in the final few weeks. Even vs AZ he gave up 14 quick points with mental errors. Blew the bears game losing to Foles with mental errors.

Recognizing his greatness as much as anyone does I think hes slipping and I do not wish him well. We shall know soon enough. Its delicious we get to face the malcontent week one. Hopefully he plays like he has at Lumen recently. We can shut up some mouths week 1.

Mayfield sucked last year with that back Nick Chubb I keep hearing all about, Jarvis Landry, OBJ. Didn't they just do what Denver did, a QB away right go get that star to replace this turd nobody wants. I know you love Russ but dont insult him with any comparison to Mayfield other than Height. In 4 years Mayfield has 1 truly decent year. At least with Geno and Locke you have very littler invested. My biggest question is why did the browns give up on him a year after his best year?

If we can get any QB to come in here and average 68%, feed DK and Rocket and hand off you might be surprised how well we do.

The only mirage is the one you're painting with Geno Smith and Drew Lock and the one you're seeing where Pete and John have drafted well the past five years. That's the mirage.

You don't want to admit Pete and John did a bad job roster building, then have at it. When Russ is doing Russ like he always has, then you're going to see Pete and John traded away a franchise QB. They know it. You'll know it soon enough.

We'll see if Pete and John can spin their stupid move into something positive. If they can't, I hope Jodi finally talks to someone who knows football and puts Pete and John on the clock. No more OCs or DCs to toss under the bus. They are the problem and their lack of ability to replenish talent. They better hope these draft picks work out this year or they'll be looking even stupider.
