Hawktawk wrote:What does “checked out “ mean ? It’s been reported by his teammates that he was checked out ? What did that mean ( these are the same sources that said he would leave . Does it mean slacking off ?
Rip me all you want . I’ve lauded Russels greatness over and over . He’s not the same . If I have any beliefs whatsoever he slacked it for 35 million in my jersey for 45 plus years I really lost a lot of respect . Maybe that’s why JODI ALLEN said “ we want people who are on board “ in her press remarks on Russ leaving .
He was a distraction in the end . That’s an analysis . I think the Seahawk team and coaching staff will make that evident in the season opener . They may lose but it won’t be for a lack of trying .
It’s ok to recognize the greatness of Russ and still recognize who he had become in the end . I make no apologies for doing so .

Whatever, you just won't stop pushing your lying garbage. You're a rumormonger gossip pushing garbage lies.

Alright, in the interest of doing a friend a favor by doing his homework for him, I did an internet search for "Russell Wilson checked out" and came up with this:
Some Seattle Seahawks teammates reportedly felt quarterback Russell Wilson "checked out" during the 2021 NFL season.
Michael-Shawn Dugar, Jayson Jenks and Mike Sando of The Athletic reported it was one of many issues that led to Wilson's trade to the Denver Broncos on Tuesday, which they described as a "divorce in which both sides contributed to the dissolution:"
https://bleacherreport.com/articles/100 ... ast-season
However, from what I could tell, it wasn't "numerous accounts", it was one sourced article from the Atlantic that did not attribute any quotes to any named individuals that was picked up on and repeated by several publications, including the NY Post, CBS Sports, Bleacher Report, Fox News, etc. My guess is that you read the same article from multiple publications, giving you the impression that there was more than one source.
You also have to keep in mind what else the players in the article said besides the "checked out" phrase that you keep repeating. They said it was "one of many issues" and that "both sides contributed to the dissolution", which is probably pretty accurate and that you've chosen to ignore as it doesn't fit your narrative that it was all Russell's fault and that Pete is the knight in shining armor.
Considering the size of NFL teams and how many players move through the system, the odds of a few of them having some differences with the star quarterback is pretty high. But had there been significant discord of the magnitude that you're suggesting, surely there would have been more than just this one, singular story that leaked out.

There’s having differences then there’s believing a QB making 35 million is checked out . And you are correct I was referring to the repeat reporting of the same scoop . Much as the Jason LaCanfora scoop about the very real possibility of a Wilson trade . The late John Clayton was incensed , said it was ridiculous . If you look at the reporters who contributed to the story including Sando I find them credible . Yes I’m sure there were issues , mainly a man who was paid a kings ransom wanted to decide what offense to run . Carroll said no . Maybe he could have split the difference . Throw Wilson a bone . But he didnot .
Regardless as a blue collar supervisor still grinding my body to powder doing physical work almost every day I feel for Russ but can’t reach him. Play terrible and blame your team . Force your way out in part by checking out .35 million a year .
I’ve worked for some of the worst employers ever being in golf , mistreated , underestimated, suggestions ignored . But my work ethic has never been affected by my attitude or my employers treatment of me and I lost some respect for Russ when it broke that his teammates thought it had affected him . I don’t see where he was al that disrespected . I’m cool move on from the checked out discussion but this place will be hopping September 12 no matter what happens . I think Russell’s former teammates might send a messsage how they feel.
