Boy you really hold a grudge over someone who sustains a major injury?

You and hawktawk seem to be pinning a lot of your hopes on Penny, who received a one year prove it contract because even the NFL wasn't willing to overpay for a guy who had 6 great games and otherwise couldn't stay healthy.

Not sure why this small segment is so high on Penny and Geno Smith thinking they'll keep us competitive, but whatever. You get to make those comments until reality occurs.

It's all rainbows and roses and champagne until the the real games start and the reality of losing a QB like Russ and a defensive leader like Bobby shows up on the field. And you find out rookie tackles with limited experience have to learn to play at the NFL level before they get to do a great job blocking for a Penny who will show that six games doesn't make a career. He wasn't doing that great prior to his injury, which also seems to be forgotten by you and hawktawk.

Even before Penny suffered the ACL injury Penny wasn't able to take the starting job. This so called generational talent and big, fast back wasn't able to get consistently going. It's not just the ACL. It's been other small injuries that prevent him from going.

Not sure why you guys are engaging in revisionist history like Penny's just had the one injury and been amazing other than that. He hasn't. He had the one big injury that put him out for a year, a bunch of smaller injuries, and those six amazing games are the highlight of an otherwise unspectacular career where he hasn't been able to take the starting job from a 7th round pick named Chris Carson.

I hope the guy has some kind of amazing career revival and turns those six games into a spectacular career. But let's not pretend those six games are somehow the norm for Penny. They were an anomaly in his four year career that pretty saved him from his career ending. Penny has turned six games into a prove it's real one year contract and hopefully he can.

Any Seahawks fan should root for Penney . He was never hurt in his career , had a huge injury and had to take lots of time with strains and sprains and pulls getting it back together . He sat on the bench because our garbage coach kept starting a very talented very injury prone back who made one postseason rushing for 20 yards on 14 Carrie’s as Penney averaged 7 ypc on 4 touches. Gotta ask Pete about that . Carson is very good when healthy and as the 2017 article in SI points out Pete plays favorites sometimes and will leave a more talented player on the sudelines . As I said 3 weeks before he was hurt he went off for 138 on 14 with a 50 yard house call shot out of a cannon flattening a safety and not even losing stride . And Pete kept starting Carson .

The first round talent was there . Superstar potential . Coach ain’t perfect and Carson was good enough when healthy. As any player Penney has to stay healthy . If he does it’s a great thing , worth several wins by itself. But with Walker 3 we don’t have to just bank on Penney to get yards either . We’re gonna run it .

What I do have a complaint of is passing by better talent at a position of need. Twice.
That’s not against Penny, it’s a complaint against the FO who watched while the talent level
fell from a SB champion to a team that has to go through a major rebuild because of bad
trades and bad drafts.

It wasn’t a talent issue . If Penney is healthy next year he will have more yards then either Taylor or Chubb . More touchdowns too .


Injuries aren’t talent . In hindsight obviously you look back and say bad pick because he’s hurt and that’s fair . But talent wise when Belichick tries to trade for him when he’s drafted it’s clear it was not a talent issue .

Good lord the man housed 7 returns as a senior , 2 versus power 5 teams including auburn . If he came out of Georgia or Alabama with his ridiculous skills and numbers he would have been top 5.

It’s a unique situation we find ourselves in . A guy starting his 5th year with a year of mileage , had a very bad knee injury and didn’t lose a bit of speed . Turned down more money to return to a town where he’s been hated on for being a bust . I found that to be remarkable .

We forget what he said about having AP in the room . How he helped him prepare and understand how to return from injury , how to play with pain and recognize the difference between pain and injury . People forget AP led the league in rushing a year after his foot was on backwards . Probably a hell of a mentor .

Whatever it is he played at an all pro level in his first 6 starts . He has 7 games over 100 in 6 starts . 5 are 130 plus . 1 was 175 and 1 was 190 plus which set a couple NFL records .
Dude was a legitimate pick and he will prove it .
