France and Germany are the same people from the line of Charlemagne who drove the Muslims from Spain and halted their dominion of Europe. The Anglo-Saxons are of Germanic origin who conquered part of Britain. The German bloodlines are thought to be the ancestry of the Scandinavians, who came back down to Europe during the Viking invasion period and as the Normans who conquered Britain and started the rise of that empire. Germans were no one to mess with for a long, long time. They weren't as colonial as certain European powers until the Kaiser, but they also weren't involved in scumbag activities like slavery to their credit. You didn't see places like Britain or France invading Germany to take them over because they knew that fight wasn't going to go to well for them. It's always been a bad idea to fight the Germans.
