I have not been following it, but has the turf at Fed Ex field been redone? It was an abysmal mess last time the hawks were there. An injury machine!

It was redone sometime last year, but I haven't read anything about how it's holding up this year which I assume is a good thing.

No natural grass turf is a problem this time of year. It's later in the season in the northern latitudes in November and December when the UV rays dwindle, the grass goes into dormancy, and loses its ability to repair itself when it becomes a problem.

This isn't always true, but generally is. About a month ago the Santa Clara turf had to be completely redone.

Ha! That made me laugh.

Maybe it was my TV but the Santa Clara grass was a very light shade of green. It looked unnatural or color added.

Is SF subject to the same water rationing/shortage/whatever SoCal is? Or is that not a thing anymore?

I saw a meme with a take on that joke. "SF is so bad at home they can't even get the grass in the stadium to root for it."

I have friends that live in San Jose and they are on strict water rationing for watering, car washing etc with fines possible. However, they say the golf course a mile down the street waters everyday alot and city green areas do the same. I expect Levy gets a look the other way too.

In central Cali here and we are on very strict watering schedules. You can get a ticket for watering on the wrong day. As a municipal parks director who oversees lots of green space (including a golf course), I can tell you that in this region, the large turf watering exemptions are a thing of the past....meaning we are in stage 3 of our water crisis plan and our parks are crispy. All that said, I would be willing to bet that the nfl gets a pass and h2o is not the Santa Clara team's problem.

Water is one of those things we here in eastern Washington get spoiled over. Although there are some districts up in the Yakima Valley that have had some pretty challenging conditions in years past, my irrigation district has never imposed so much an odd/even watering restriction let alone dictate specific things the water can be used for. It's not metered and I can use it how ever often and for what ever purpose I desire.

Less than 7% of the water in the Columbia River is used for irrigation even though it's used to irrigate close to 700,000 acres, much more if you include the wells that water replenishes.

Yeah, it's pretty good overall, but KID pulls from somewhere up in the Yakima Valley, so have too often been subject to those challenging conditions.

I got off on the wrong foot with them years back (long story), so when they sent out notices saying "we're having a drought so you can't water for X days", I gave them a call asking who "we" was, because *I* could walk a half mile north and drown.

They gave me the verbal middle finger for some reason.

Odd/even watering is the norm in a wet year; this drought has led to way more restrictions than that. We can water 2 days a week max and only at certain times. Combined w/ 100+ degree days, it's tough to keep things living, let alone lush.

Sounds a bit like my hair loss:)

I just hope this field doesn't cost anybody their season.
