I just read the article on nfl.com and they mention that with the new policy Clevelands Josh Browns year long suspension will be cut down to 10 games...Whats that mean for our big guy BB?

You mean for the Patsies? Not sure, he is already serving his suspension ( right?) So depending on when they approve it, my guess would be that he is reinstated with no more time to serve. ( it was already reduced to four games).

I kept Josh Gordon in my pool, and I only got to keep 2 players. It speaks more to how bad my team was last year, but this is good news for my fantasy pool. By the time he gets back, I wonder if Johnny football will be hucking the ball around??

Wes Welker is going to be playing this weekend. I think its HorseS**t personally. You want to change the rules fine but how should that affect people who violated the old policy?

I agree. I don't like the forgiveness clause, although it's not finalized yet. You're in essence punishing those that abided by the old policy.

Evidently Browner's name hasn't come up to reduce... so he must of tested way over the new 'how much pot in the blood limit'. Josh was just a hair over the minimum and now he would be under. Browner was a stoner. He must be totally bummed he screwed up and now is on the East Coast, where it's not as good and more costly and illegal.

I thought I read the new policy goes back to March of this year so anything after that is subject to lessened penalties.
It's the agreement of the NFLPA and owners that draws the line in the sand for those serving some sentence or penalty.

Now that they've revisited the substance abuse policy and liberalized it a bit, they need to do the same thing with the personal conduct policy, except they need to strengthen it.

The new policy is put in place for the 2014 season and BB's suspension stems from 2013 season and will be handled with 2013 rules....at least that is how I understood it

You can pick any point in time to put the new rules into effect and say the same thing. Beginning of next year could be called just as unfair as the end of last year or as arbitrary as the moment the papers are signed.

Seems to me they could say penalties that occurred under the old CBA are handled by those rules, successive cases will be handled by the provisions of the new policy.

IMO the weed penalties were equally if not more ridiculous for athletes than they were for the general population. If I were slamming my body into brick walls all week Id much rather be able to smoke a bowl than eat a bunch of Vicodin so that is a welcome change, a no brainer.

I disagree.

To be frank, Gordon's and Welker's penalties occurred before the change, so I'm not seeing a huge difference in timeframe between Browner and either of those players. The NFL is also notorious for "slow walking " the process, for all anyone here knows, both infraction happened BEFORE Browner, wouldn't be the first time it the NFL took for ever to dole out a punishment. Irvin for instance tested positive before the playoffs started for PED's and yet wasn't suspended until the following season, wouldn't surprise me in the least to find out Welker and Gordon tested positive in the same time frame.

The change date is subjective to when the NFL wants to implement it and is entirely obligatory.
