It would suck if the Rams picked him up. The Hawks gave up a 7th rounder for him and apparently will get nothing in return. I realize a 7th rounder ain't much but to cut him and have the rams pick him up would be a small dagger with his knowledge of the playbook and all.

with his knowledge of the playbook and all.

I think there's *some* advantage to be gained getting a QB cut from a rival, but I have to wonder how big that advantage is considering the coaching staff is fully aware of the liability.

Anyone know how teams ameliorate that risk? Do they keep the playbook 'dumbed down' to a high degree before the 53-man roster is set?

They have discussed it, pretty much there is nothing to be gleaned from a cut qb than another, everything they can provide, other teams already know. The playbooks are all on I-pads now, and with no actual game planning, it is a basic offense with little or no wrinkles, which teams within this division already know about. I wouldn't be concerned with it, it isn't like they are going to get the keys to the offensive or defensive gameplan, and I would suspect that the plays will be pretty different between now and when they actually face them.

OT Eric Winston just cut.

Regarding Small, it might be a little different if it was a QB and he had played a year for us for a year.
The plays are all there for the other teams to view, but the philosophy of how to attack the other teams and our thinking about where the weaknesses on Defense - or at least where we think we match up better could give the new team a small advantage.
A FB from the pre-season, without going through any game planning probably wouldn't have much to offer from an intelligence PoV.
He might help their run game, though with his blocking.

I'm mildly surprised about Winston.
With it almost a given Okung will miss some games and a rookie at RT, I would have thought he would have stuck for a year.
They played him a little at LT so I guess that was just to have a look and they didn't like it as much as they had hoped.
This will probably mean Bailey will be the fill in for either Tackle. I hope he's up to the task.

Or maybe the have seen another OT cut by another team that they plan to go after? Hmmmm.... I was a bit surprised also.

Good News - It means that the remaining players are better than Winston.

I suppose, but there is always the possibility with him being cut from Denver earlier that he doesn't have anything left in the tank.

That'd suck, I'd like to see him on our PS.

Now that the PS has been expanded to 10 players, it might be more difficult to keep good players on teams with good depth.

Bringing Pryor here in the first place made next to no sense, cutting him does.

Keeping 7 receivers is the biggest surprise to me. That and I thought there'd be more surprises.

When Bruce gets healthy & we lose a spot, I can't predict who.....cept for maybe a WR or Norwood goes to IR.

Come on Thursday.

When Irvin comes back, wouldn't Coyle go onto the PS or would that just give us the full compliment of LBs?

Check your count there, guys. Irvin is already counted with the 53. We won't have to drop anybody, but I agree 7 WRs is a lot. They may still make a cut there anyway; a lot of guys have hit the waiver wire.

You're right, Irvin is part of the Active roster.
Thanks.

It's interesting we kept 4 OTs and 3 Guards (4 if you include Jeanpierre who can play both G and C) considering Cable wants players that can play both T and G.
Maybe they're settling into proper roles. I hope the starters can stay together for a full year.

They are also keeping 9 DBs. They must really like some of the young guys they have in their system.
Burley is an unknown to me at this point having given up a 6th round pick for a guy who has been on 4 other teams in one year.
Maybe he does have Punt Return ability like was said in another thread.
