I do apologize if this has been discussed.. forgive me for being out of the loop for so long, and I am about 6 Alaskan Ambers in, and I have been busy setting up my business. Anyhow I just watched the saved replay of our 2nd Pre Season game, and I would have to say that I wish we keep Walters on our team for Punt Returns and Special Teams. I don't want to see Earl Thomas(who hasn't done much punt returning) take a bad shot to his knees while playing ST.
Just my opinion!
It has been some time, and I can't wait to be back to full time form here at the SHACK!

hey 4X, good to hear from you. I've been in hiding a bit myself. I agree with you on Earl. I think it is too risky. We shall see.

I'm not entirely sure we have seen the punt returner for the season, actually you know, return a punt. Wouldn't surprise me in the least for them to be "hiding" that guy whomever it may be, or for that guy to be currently on some other team. Wouldn't be shocked to see number 10 back there as early as game one.
I don't like Thomas back there, anymore than anyone else does, but realistically, it isn't a far more dangerous position than any other on the field, and quite honestly is actual a less dangerous position than most. As long as a player is smart, very few clean shots occur and even less injuries. At least in my personal experience, and in the decades of watching people do it. I like Walters fine, but if I was the ST coach he wouldn't be high on my list. Catching short punts, on the fly, is a recipe for disaster no matter how good a returner is. Their job is to make sure people blocking get away and do the same, not attempt to catch it and gain yards.
