Doh! ... I was waiting for compensatory picks to be awarded before posting my picks, thinking surely that we'd get one or two ... but since we weren't awarded any I never saw the news that they had been awarded! (shows to go ya how narrow my NFL focus has become!)
So anyway, better late than never here they are:
- as usual, it 3 potential picks per pick that we have right now
- the first pick is the one I'd choose if I were making our picks
Round 1 (32)
1- OT Joel Bitonio - Nevada - As you can see, I think we go O-line in round one, I went back and forth between Bitonio and James for a while, and I'd still be happy with either.
2- OT JaWuan James - Tennessee
3- OG Xavier Su’a-Filo - UCLA
Round 2 (64)
1- DE Marcus Smith - Louisville
2- WR Martavis Bryant - Clemson
3- OT Seantrel Henderson - Miami
Round 4 (132)
1- WR Brandon Coleman - Rutgers
2- CB Phillip Gaines - Rice
3- WR Bruce Ellington - USC
Round 5 (146)
1- OLB Boseko Lokombo - Oregon (my favorite name in this draft!)
2- TE Richard Rogers - Cal
3- WR Jeff Janis - Saginaw Valley State
Round 5 (172)
1- CB Antone Exum - Virginia Tech
2- TE Blake Annen - Cincinnati
3- DE Aaron Lynch - South Florida
Round 6 (208)
1- OLB Carlos Fields - Winston-Salem
2- DT Rickey Havili Heimuli - Oregon
3- DT Caraun Reid - Princeton

Interesting selections, Bob.
I would also like them to go OL in the first round, but I think it might be DT.
I've been saying Stephon Tuitt, but in reading about some of the others many talk about Rashede Hageman (sp) and his freakish athleticism, not to mention he has played both DT and DE.
When I hear that type of description, I can't get past our FO not selecting him if they feel the same way. I haven't seen any articles or heard any talk of them interviewing Hageman, so like their previous drafts he might be high on their radar.
I'll fill in the rest later as I am at work, but here is the start of my selections:
Edit: R1 removed Tuitt and added Su'a-Filo - May 5th
Edit #2 - Re-added Tuitt and removed Hageman (Re-ordered as well). Read too much about Tuitt and the trend for Seattle in drafting.
Round 1
DL Stephon Tuitt
OT Cyrus Kaoandjio(sp)
OG Xavier Su'a-Filo
Round 2
WR Martavis Bryant
OT Billy Turner
OT Antonio Richardson
Edit:
The rest of my picks:
Round 4
Michael Schofield OT Michigan
Devin Street WR Pittsburgh
Arthur Lynch TE Georgia
Round 5
George Uko, DT/DE USC
Brandon Coleman WR Rutgers
Laurent Duvernay-Tardif OT McGill
Round 5
Anthony Steen OG Alabama
Jon Halapio OG Florida
Prince Shembo OLB ND
Round 6
Ahmad Dixon SS Baylor
Jeff Janis WR Saginaw Valley St.
Brock Coyle LB Montana

I was going to work in a DT possibility in the first, but I really do think we go O-line ... but then, I'm about as little confident in my picks as I have ever been, this Front Office is impossible to read!, seems I'm surprised just about every round ... I was pretty good at guessing Holmgren's crew.

After last years surprise pick of Michael, anything is possible.
The other reason I think it might be DL is to replace Red. Who can play that role who is currently on the team?
Both of the guys Tuitt and Hageman are big bodies like Bryant, but they might have more upfield push than Red had.
In any event, it will be an adventure, as usual.

Honestly believe the Hawks trade down and pick up additional picks.... I could see them drafting a receiver with their first pick that can be an explosive PR as well.... I would prefer a tackle or guard be the first selection, but won't be ready to jump off a bridge if they don't... Could see a scenario where they trade down garnering a flip of the second round pick to an "early" and while picking up a 3rd and maybe a 5 th.

I think we're all hoping they can trade down for extra picks, but someone has to want to trade up.
We might be set pretty well if a team sees a player they have ranked as mid 1st round still there at 32 and know he will be gone by their 2nd pick so it might work out.
The purpose of this yearly exercise is as if there are no trades by us.
It's what we think will happen, not what we hope.
It would be interesting to see another thread with what posters realistically hope happens.

Trading down IS what I "think" will happen, as opposed to "hope". There will be a QB available in this draft at the end of the first round that a team like Houston, Cleveland, Oakland etc wants to land.... and will want to get back into the first round to select them. I don't "know" it will happen, but it certainly isn't a "hope" either.

It wouldn't surprise me if we traded down and I hope we do.
But as Bob stated in the first post, the game is to select with the picks we have right now.

I tried to do this three hours ago, but it wouldn't post. So I checked my choices ... and changed one.
All my choices are prefaced by this: If all of my first round choices are gone by #32, they will trade down. And they may trade up or down more than once. So my round selections have soft corners and one of my fifth rounders could end up a third rounder or whatever.
Players with who Hawks staff visited with are marked with a (V), so if there is any angle bet with the Hawks (20% last year), that's good enough.
So, Om Shanti Calamari:
Round 1
DE - K. Ealy, Mizzou
DL - R. Hageman, Minne
OL - C. Kouandjio, Bama
Round 2
OL - B. TURNER, NoDak St
OL - A. RICHARDSON, Tenn (V)
DL - D. LAWRENCE, Boise St. (V)
Round 4
DL - K. MARTIN, No Caroline
LB - J. TRIPP, Montana (V)
WR - P. RICHARDSON, Colo (V)
Round 5
OL - L. DUVERNAY-TARDIF, McGill (V)
OL - B. THOMAS, Clemson
WR - D. ARCHER, Kent St
Round 5
LB - K. FORTT, Cal (V)
CB - P. DESIR, Linderwood
DL - E. NDLAYE, Nebras Kear (V)
Round 6
LB - C. FIELDS, Winston Salem (V)
OL - C. LUCAS, Kansas St
TE - B. ANNEN, Cincin

Just curious...whatcha all think about David Yankey, OG Stanford?
I'm of the opinion that a guard is the direction we could go in the first round of the draft. There's going to be at least three tackles taken before they get to #32, but guards don't often go very high.

I heard Joel Bitonio from Nevada interviewed on NFL Sirius. He "seemed über mature and I really liked him on air. Gil Brandt was geeked out over who had NOT gotten a sack on him. Gil said he will make an excellent nfl player, so I like him.
I stated earlier that we would take:
Morgan Moses
Xavier Sua FILO
Or Kelvin Benjamin in Rd #1 (add Joel to the list)
Since I think that, we clearly go DT, DE, or DB. On that, I'll make a wager.

I saw an interview with Sua Filo (sp) on the NFL Network and he seems to have his head on straight.
Apparently he has a mean streak and according to other items I've read is very good at pass blocking as well as getting to the 2nd level.
He might be someone we take if there with our first pick. If the evaluations are correct, he could really strengthen the interior of our OL.

It will be interesting to see if they select a player that could play LT.
Okung will be a FA after the 2015 season and hasn't been consistently healthy.
2 years for a player to develop as a LT at the NFL level - or at least get some experience so we could judge would be a nice cushion should contract negotiations get difficult.

Oh yeah, and this year, based on feedback from last year;
- Right player = 1 point
- right round = 1 point
- right round + first name on your board for that round = 1 point
So if you get the right player in the right round and he's the player you would have chosen if you were the Schneid there's a potential for 3 points per round.

So I'm not sure if it's allowed, but I'd like to change my first 5th round pick. Henderson failed a drug test at the combine so I'm pushing him back a round. Someone will probably take him before the 32nd pick in the 6th round, but that's just the dumbest of dumb.

Sure you can ... if we had as many participating as we did back in the day I ask you to incorporate the change into a re-post of your whole mock (just for ease of scoring after the fact), but it looks as though this will be no sweat this year.

I don't follow NCAA football at all, so I won't even bother, lol.
I'm just hoping we get 2 new starters - or at least a couple guys that will seriously challenge -for OL positions this offseason. I know it's a tiresome subject, but it remains relevant because we haven't had a good unit to protect the QB in quite awhile now. Just .5 seconds more for RW in the pocket could make a big difference. At least that would put us at 1.5:)

Good piece a work Cbob!
I guarantee one thing there will be no draft flip outs this year!! We are drafting for depth this time; the guy from Nevada is a real mauler and would really help our running game. I have heard corner from the guy on NFL channel that used to coach Zona. IF Lee or Cook drops I could see them taking one of those guys at WR. However I see zero chance of Cooks dropping to us. What about talking taking a spare RB like Sanky from WA?

What did "Ida Hoe"? ... welcome to the barbecue "govandals".
Or, perhaps you misspelled the contraction for "government angels"?
A most interesting herd you've submitted.
I don't think Jean-Baptiste's name ever surfaced as a Hawk until early this morning from a national media guy.
Yet, we know he had a visit with the Hawks.
Well, good luck!

Welcome vandals.
I heard Mayock last night on the NFL Network thinking they select Baptiste as well.
It makes sense with us losing Browner and Thurmond and like was said on TV, he fits the profile for PC and JS.
He's tall, fast, a former WR and they haven't talked to or about him at all. Very similar pattern to the Irvin and Carpenter selections.

Well, after they released me last night, I thought it was time for revisions to my Hawks draft picks.
So, toss out the old, in with the new.
As a disclaimer, I am totally confused as to why the Hawks visited with Timmy Jernigan. He is short, has short arms and small hands. So, either this is "misdirection" or they know something.
But, I think this is blowing smoke ... which translates to: watch it happen.
That said, here goes:
Round One
They will trade down for a second round selection between 33 and 40, and pick up fourth rounder in the process. Thus:
Round Two
OL - C. Kouandjio
OL - M. Moses
WR - C. Latimer
Round Two
DL - D. Lawrence
OL - B. Turner
DL - K. Ealy
Round Four
CB - P. Desir
WR - P. Richardson
LB - J. Tripp
Round Four
OL - A. Richardson
DL - K. Martin
WR - D. Archer
Round Five
OL - B. Thomas
OL - L. Duvernay-Tardif
DE - E. Ndlaye
Round Five
LB - K. Fortt
LB - C. Fields
LB - B. Coyle
Round Six
S - E. Pinkins
C - G. Ikard
TE - C. Lyerla (the baddest boy in the draft who the Hawks haven't said "boo" about ... a Jeremy Stevens re-visited: great body / great mind / pick one ... oops)
You would think I would have better things to do...

Well, I guess next year I'll just go ahead and make those picks regardless of rules. As it stands I think Bitonio gets drafted in the second with Seattle's first pick, and Moncrief possibly with the second. I don't believe the Hawks attempt to "replace" Browner with Jean-Batiste in the 32nd spot Maycock and a few others are projecting. Seattle seems to have the ability to find guys much later in the draft that can be coached up at the corner positions. That said, that probably means it happens... LOL

BD I would be surprised to see Seattle make a pick on the first day, been on the trade down train from the first, so I think you have the right of it just was told I couldn't do that, so I simply just didn't submit any picks ( after all that kind of makes it impossible to be accurate, as selecting in the second round, picking up extra picks kind of matters as players availability drastically changes, which drastically changes who's available etc).
Like I said SOME team will want to move back in to the first to snag a QB before Houston gets their second pick. Being at 32 could end up being a bigger blessing than just a Lombardi sitting at the Vmac. The Seahawks sit in a pretty desirable spot in this one ( which might not have been the case if Houston had a decent QB on the roster) Cleveland, Oakland, Jacksonville ALL probably are looking for a QB later in round one or early round two, and with Houston sitting there at 33 it makes it IMPORTANT to those teams ( you can add in a few wild cards in that mix as well, like Arizona, KC, Buffalo, Jets,Tampa, maybe even NE AS AN EVENTUAL replacement for Brady). It might actually turn into a bidding war, which when you have the item for sale is all good.

Yes it's the picks that we have going into the draft. Sorry Bird old buddy but you cant give yourself more picks to hit with. If ya wanna move round one to a second round two that's not a problem, but ya don't get to put more ammo in your gun in the later rounds.
