Seattle Mariners shutting down ROOT Sports, shifting TV and streaming to MLB in 2026.

The Seattle Mariners announced Friday that they will shut down Root Sports Northwest at the end of the 2025 season, shifting all aspects of broadcast production, carriage, and streaming of Mariners games to Major League Baseball beginning in 2026.

I've been getting Root Sports plus NFL Red Zone via Fubo, so this might change things.

MLB is taking streaming of games in-house? How will that work for streaming services like FUBO? It seems many content creators want to own and maximize their own content.

I just checked my Fubo subscription, and it seems that I'm already getting MLB Network as well as MLB Strike Zone. I'm currently getting their Elite with Sports Plus package, the best they have, and I think I'll get the Mariners via MLB's regional coverage with my current subscription level. I guess I'll find out next spring. If I can't get most of the Mariner's games on Fubo, I'll be looking for another TV provider.
