Not sure how many of you care or follow College Football. but I am enjoying the irony of this, as former Pac 12 teams win their respective conferences in their inaugural seasons. I would have not guessed Oregon to win the Big 10, and certainly not ASU to win the Big 12 after projected to be dead last in their Big 12 conference. However, here we are, and both teams are going to the playoffs.

George Kliavkoff failed miserably to lock up a deal for the conference, and to see that there was talented product with in the Pac 12. He will go down in history for single handily destroying a conference of rich tradition and history. Will the Pac 12 ever recover? Most likely never and it will be come another B league of members.

Yeah watching the championship games they're calling him the worst executive in college FB.

Yeah, that was one of the worst decisions in CFB history, not to go after Texas and Oklahoma when they had the chance. And it was two schools, WSU and OSU, that suffered the consequences.

I've given up on CFB as a consequence. Over the years, I gave my WSU Coug buddies all sorts of crap about their team, but the fact is that they had one of the most dedicated fan bases in the nation, albeit it not in the same numbers as others. Here in WA, they sold way more WSU license plates than UW despite the fact that UW has twice the enrollment and alumni. But CFB tossed them in the garbage can like yesterday's newspaper because they don't have the dollars behind them. Now, we get Washington vs. Rutgers instead of Oregon vs. WSU. The regional aspect is gone. I haven't watched more than 30 minutes.... minutes in front of a TV...of a college football game all year. I hope they fall on their faces.

I don't have any loyalty to any team although I do have a soft spot for former Pac 12 teams and hope they all do well just to stick it to the pompous prognosticators from back east.

What I do find fascinating is the NIL and how money now entering the picture in what is probably a much more formalized way. I heard on the Pat McAffee show a comment that a ruling will be coming down from a Court where maximum
dollars will be set and each team will have what is expected to be a Salary Cap. It was talked about with the idea that College teams will have to deploy Capologists and have the equivalent of a GM to manage who to get from the Portal, how
much they get paid, and how much of the Cap they spend on each player or position. It was suggested that the College ranks could become a GM training ground of sorts.

The NIL is another thing that's ruining the sport for the little guys like the WSU's and OSU's. It's bad enough that they're put at a disadvantage due to name recognition and how many TV viewers they attract, but now they can't compete with the kind of money that's being offered by the Ohio States and Michigans.

Welcome to the new world of money and sports. The NIL thing alone is what single handily moved Saban's timeline to hang it up sooner than he wanted to. He has gone on record numerous times and has objected to colleges allowing the NIL factor to be part of the sport. However, it's here and there is no stopping where it will lead to. NIL is something like a meme going viral, where it doesn't matter the quality of the video or pic posted, but for unexplained reason it goes viral and the internet takes over. There is no limits to a sports athletes NIL worthiness.

Ideally, NIL isn't the only factor that effects the influence of sports, but for a young up and coming athlete it will certainly sway their decision to move to a college that gives you the best opportunity to earn the highest $$$, regardless of the real purpose of college and that is to get an education.

I did a deep dive into how a Conference Commissioner can get fired, and realistically it's absolute joke. I know they are voted in, and have to be voted off. However, who is accountable when a Commish completely botches TV deals for your top college teams, really nobody. George Kliavkoff, had no experience working in the college sports realm. He ran MGM sports book betting prior to taking over for Larry Scott

He tried to work TV deals through Apple +, and that was miserable fail. It's isn't like other CEOs of companies, who do such a bad job that you can fire them and find someone new and innovative to rebuild the company. Nope, George did so much damage that it can never be repaired.

The demise of the Pac 12 can be traced back to 2011 when Larry Scott was commissioner and was against bringing in Oklahoma and Texas. Had they brought those two schools, they almost certainly wouldn't have lost the LA schools, which sounded the death knell.

Like I said earlier, I've checked out of college football. It's lost its regional flavor.

It's entertaining football and worth watching but even more so when you look for certain players at positions of need for us. A lot of the top players won't be there for us in the 20 range, but there are some real good IOL prospects and some good ILBs as well that just might.
