I figure I start this one now because there are a few factors that go into this game. The Jets are probably the biggest dumpster fire of a team this season, well maybe the Browns or Cowboys are up there as well given all their talent and big contracts. Anyhow, the Jets to me bought into one player with the biggest ego on the planet, and it has completely fallen apart. I am not saying Aaron Rodgers is the main reason, as this has been an organizational failure from many fronts.

They dumped their coach immediately after they lost to the Vikings and were sitting at 2-3. Since then they have won one game, against the Texans a winning team, which is a bit of a head scratcher. They sit at 3-8 with nothing to play for this season. There were rumors that the owner Woody Johnson was in a team meeting advocating possibly benching Aaron Rodgers. It's hard to say who really calls the shots for the Jets at this point, and they just fired their GM Joe Douglas, who hours later was out fishing and on the shores of Jersey, and when interviewed appeared to show he was happy and relieved he was fired.

If there was a script on how to run a franchise into the ground, and make wrong decisions, and be the worst NFL franchise operation in modern day era, this Jets team would be it.

Well with nothing to play for, and interim coach trying to prove his worth, could this be a game the Hawks look past and lay an egg? I love how national pundits like to bring up the east coast early starts as a disadvantage, but in reality the Seahawks have been playing well with east coast early starts recently. So I am not worried about the time shift, however I just worry that the Seahawks may play down to their competition and the game score will be closer than we would like it to be.

Yeah, that's my worry, too. Even beyond that franchise history, this season has been very uneven as you'd expect with a talented-but-inexperienced coaching staff and perhaps the most bipolar QB in the league. As the Cards game showed us, if we can get a game where Good Geno shows up for longer than Bad Geno, I'll feel pretty good about getting a W. One Red Zone INT isn't a death sentence against mediocre teams. But if Rams Geno shows up, then all bets are off.

With Aaron Rodgers they can have a great game at any point in time, but they aren't a great team. No consistency. Coaching dumpster fire as you stated. We should beat them.

They have very good players on Defense and some good talent on Offense.
If they put it all together they would be trouble for any team not in the top 4 or 5, so, to answer the.question posed by the subject title, it could very well be a trap game.

I would also add the Giants list of dumpster fire teams and they might be more so than the Jets.

When I think of a trap game, I think of a team like the one loss Chiefs going up against the 3-8 Panthers. We haven't gotten to the point where we should be prohibitive favorites over anyone. We're too inconsistent. And I hope the team has some humility about them, that they realize that despite the stellar performance they turned in last Sunday, that they're still just a 6-5 team on the playoff bubble. We're one of 10 teams with 5 or 6 losses.

The Jets are coming off their bye week, so they've had a long time to prepare and get healthy. We have to fly cross country and play in the early time slot. Remember the east coast jinx? This is by no means a slam dunk, and although I'll be picking us to win, I wouldn't want to put a large sum of money on the outcome. In fact, we're just a 2-point favorite.

The Cardinals came off their bye week and they seemed like they weren't ready. Jets are coming off a bye week, where they just fired their GM Joe Douglas. This is the same GM who was directed to terminate Saleh, and he elected to promote Jeff Ulbrich. Jeff Ulbrich, made an immediate adjustment to remove Nathaniel Hackett' from play calling duties, but yet he still remains the offensive coordinator. Todd Downing calls the plays during games, but still works under Hackett? Yeah go figure. Aaron has been the only praising voice for Hackett since he has been with the Jets. Could you imagine being Jeff Ulbrich right now and going to work where the GM who supported you is now gone, and you have to prepare for the week. It's an absolute $hit show there.

All I am saying is that on paper we should beat the Jets. The Jets should be tanking for better draft position, but if they are going to tank I would imagine Aaron given he is about to turn 41 isn't going to be par with that. Being 6-5 and with still 2 division games to play, I think there is a solid chance the Hawks can lock up the NFC West if they get Geno back to playing clean football and control the clock. It will be a tough test, but we need to string some wins together to secure the NFC West, otherwise there will not be anyone else in the NFC West going to the playoffs as a wild card as the NFC North is looking quite completive.

Oh, I agree with everything you've said about the Jets and that this is a game that we should win. I indicated such by saying that I was picking us to win. But that wasn't the point. The point is that a trap game, at least the way I think of a trap game, is a heavily favored team going into a game against a decidedly weaker opponent that they might be overlooking. I don't see it that way, and apparently Vegas doesn't see it that way, either, as they've established us as just a 2-point favorite.

The Cards were a little overrated IMO. They haven't beaten a team with a .500+ record, at least not when they played them. Same with the Niners. Did you see what the Packers did to them last Sunday? They're not the same Niners team that has dominated the division recently. So, there's an argument to be made that we're still not that good, that we haven't beaten anyone. That's probably why the oddsmakers are giving just two points.

with Carroll we did seem to play down to teams/games like this one, but under McDonald I expect this to change.
