Hawks @ 49ers

Well no matter what happens, got to see it through. If there ever was a time we need a win to save the season, I think this game would be it. A road win against a divisional opponent with 3 more division games yet to play could change the outlook of our season. Albeit highly unlikely, but after a bye week and some head scratching roster moves, and getting some players back healthy .... who KNOWS!

It's a new season, and a lot to play for.

Hankins got the interception. Must have been a batted pass or dumb luck.

so far the game is exceeding my expectations. So far. Guys back are making a difference! Purdy is being rushed.

I'm impressed with Macdonald today. With the extra week to fix a defense that has been playing poorly and with a fully rotated LB corps, he got them ready to play. And he did that while navigating a pretty crazy couple of weeks with the trades and Williams retirement. He seems to have found a way to get Spoon back to his instinctive, playmaking self.

The offense, obviously, isn't up to that standard, but our OL sucks and the SF defense is good, so I'm not surprised.

I still think that SF is favored to win, but regardless, Macdonald is showing some good stuff out there.

way to bounce back on a dumb INT from Geno. But this drive exemplifies the need for DK out there.

Okay, this is absurd. Why aren't the Hawks doubling Jauan Jennings? He's singlehandedly killing them. Crimey! Shut that dude down.

Seahawks are not rolling over. Nice to see Mike have the team ready to compete against a division rival on their home turf.

Gotta question about that play. Doesn't one knee equal two feet? JSN had one knee down in bounds. Or was I just seeing things.

I disagree. I think they were both short. First one was closer, though.

JSN is stepping up and starting to remind me of a younger Doug Baldwin, playing sneaky in that slot position.

We can't seem to get a single yard or inches when we need it, any word what happened to Abe Lucas, I see Jerrill out there more?

In real time, I thought that the 4th downplay was short, and I couldn't get a clear look at the replay.

Hats off to the Defense, hats off to JSN who is playing like the 1st round pick that we drafted. We still can't run the ball for s|-|it, but at the end of the day a much needed win on the road against a division rival. They will probably make injuries excuses, but what team doesn't have injuries at this time. If we can beat the 49ers on the road, we can match up well with anyone. Renewed confidence, but still far from being a contender, but playoff bound... possibly

Hold on there! No, it doesn't mean we can match up well with anyone. It means we beat a still-talented team that is a little past its apex and not hitting on all cylinders for a variety of reasons. Seattle still has a big problem with an unbalanced offense and there is no lack of teams that can exploit that. I would have you note that It wasn't until Bosa left the game that Seattle was able to move the ball and pull the game out. But having said that, still an exciting and unexpected victory for us and we can rejoice for the moment.

Didn't the 49ers lose Bosa? 49ers are a completely different team without their stars. They are so star dependent on each side of the ball, they lose one of them and they start to look bad.

Look we are getting healthier and getting a lot of our players back and they are starting to contribute. I believe our team is good enough to hang with any team out there, and we can match up with anyone. However, I don't think we are the best team by any means, and we are definitely not contenders. We have the skill players on offense, and if Geno can play a clean game, I do believe we can move the ball on anyone. Also our defense looks a lot better with Knight and Jones running the middle of the field against a pretty dynamic offense today.

However, the reality is we are not a good team, and it will take efforts like today to prove we can get there. We have been to inconsistent to be a good team, and have shot ourselves in the foot far too many times. So yes, I do believe we can match up with anyone, and if we can get the offense moving, and the defense plays the way they are playing and Myers is nailing 55+ yard FGs, it gives us a chance to win in these games. No where do I believe we can blow out a top tier team, but we can have a chance to win. With 5 more division games to play, we control our own destiny and how our playoff hopes will shape up. It's a tall order, but it's there for the taking.

I guess I don't understand how you are using the term "match up". To me it means a team's abilities are on a par with any other team's abilities. I just don't see that to be the case when comparing the Hawks to a number of other teams in the NFL. Yes, in several categories we looked better today than we have so far this season, especially in defensive categories. And we made fewer mistakes and had fewer penalties. But our lack of a running game does no allow us to go toe to toe with the better teams in the NFL. And I don't see how you can say in the same breath that "the reality is we are not a good team" but "we can match up with anyone".

49ers are not great this year. We have the same record. You are who your record says you are regardless of past performance. The 49ers are a middling team. Nice win, but we didn't beat the 49ers that were strong playoff contenders. We beat the middling team that is falling off.

I understand what you are saying. I probably don't do the best expressing my points. I believe our offense has shown this season we can move the ball pretty well through the air, reason we are 2nd in the league on 1st downs(passing), and 4th in the league in total yards. However, yes the run game is pretty much a non factor, but our short passing game has been pretty elite. If you go back to the Rams game, if we didn't have the snap miscues, which are pretty routine plays, who knows what the out come could have been. Our defense has been great to absolute horrible at times. From what I have seen on the "good side of things from our offense and defense", and if we play at those levels with a clean offense and a defense that can shut down a competent offense, than I believe we can beat anyone. However, where I mean we are not that good of team is because we have not been able to be consistent with our high level of play, and we never know what defense shows up to play on gameday
