Of the others on the NFI list, it's disappointing to see any on it, but things like sore backs or slight muscle pulls can put a player on that list.
NorthHawk wrote:It's going to be interesting how they approach the LB situation. Like you said that area is already light on bodies so might they have some scheme change to paper over the holes when the inevitable injuries occur?
Maybe they are looking for LB cuts from other teams to add more players, but I guess they had to make some type of sacrifice if they wanted to fix the issues on the DL and with limited Cap space. Overthecap has the Seahawks at about $20M over next year so some creative signings/cuts might be in order next year, too. And it will be the last year of DK's contract so they will have to decide what they want to do with him in an era of skyrocketing prices for WRs. Maybe draft a QB and start Howell thus saving about $26M from Geno not being re-signed and having a low Cap number for a couple of years with DK in a longer term contract? It's going to be interesting.

The Seattle Seahawks announced seven players on Thursday that have been placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list ahead of training camp next week.
The list includes several recognizable names, most notably both of Seattle’s key linebacker signings this offseason.
The full Seahawks PUP list is:
• RT Abraham Lucas
• LB Jerome Baker
• LB Tyrel Dodson
• CB Lance Boykin
• S Jerrick Reed II
• LB Drake Thomas
• NT Cameron Young
Seattle also announced five players that have been played on the non-football injury (NFI) list:
• G Anthony Bradford
• LB Easton Gibbs
• CB D.J. James
• CB Nehemiah Pritchett
• WR Dee Williams

Camp opens next Wednesday 7/25.
Yeah, the linebacker situation, especially ILB, is in some serious need of help. With the exception of the interior OL, it's the weakest position group on the team. I thought that we might sign Patrick Queen during free agency, but I guess he was probably too expensive. Hopefully, somebody rises to the occasion. What is it that Pete used to say? "Next man up!"
NorthHawk wrote:I see LBs being signed by other teams on a regular basis these last few days. It makes me wonder if the Cap situation is so tight they can't afford one or they are going to do something radical with their Defense.
I guess we will see in a few weeks.
NorthHawk wrote:I think the DL should be much improved up the middle with the additions of Hankins and Murphy. They can have a true rotation once they are all on the same page with Reed and Young and maybe one of the younger players if they take a step up.
The ILB to me is more of a question mark at this point but we will see how those positions are used.
NorthHawk wrote:The Center from Miami recovering from a knee injury is Connor Williams who started 77 games for Miami.
If he's healthy enough to play, it would fit the pattern of JS signing another IOL to a prove it deal for cheap. Then he won't want to pay the going rate for a starting Center and let him go next year leaving us with the same hole to fill and no experienced Center on the roster except with Olu on his last year of his rookie contract where he won't be re-signed and go off to a solid career on another team. It seems to be the way JS looks at the IOL as over valued and over priced.
NorthHawk wrote:Apparently MacDonald said in a press conference that Lucas will remain on the PUP list and it sounded like it may be a while if he plays this year if at all.
I don't know what to make of it at the moment but they did sign Fant just for this occurrence.
