TNF Games to be Flexed?

Roger Goodell recently hinted at that possibility:

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Wednesday he wouldn't be surprised if those (Thursday night) games received flex scheduling down the road: Goodell says "It wouldn't at all surprise me" if the @NFL eventually has flexible scheduling for Thursday Night Football.

If that happens, the NFL would hypothetically be allowed to change "Thursday Night Football" matchups as long as it gives teams a few weeks' notice. The league has the ability to enact flex scheduling after Week 5 of the regular season, and occasionally moves more meaningful Sunday games to "Sunday Night Football."

It's one thing to flex a game scheduled for a Sunday by a few hours into a different time slot, but quite another to change it by days. Moving games by several days with just a couple of weeks' notice would impose a huge inconvenience on those of us who have to travel in order to attend games in person, having to make hotel and airline reservations that may not be able to be easily changed on that short of notice, as well as those close to the venue who don't have a lot of flexibility in their family and work schedules. I would be vehemently opposed to this proposal.

Yeah I was vehemently opposed to my team being forced to kick of at 6:30 pacific time halfway around the world where 90% of fans could never afford to see them live if they wanted to and they are at a distinct competitive disadvantage .

Goidell will tell you the same crap he and you told me . Tough . Get over it . It’s part of the league now . I am the king .

Inconvenience fans ? No problem . Endanger players ? No sweat . It’s all about the almighty dollar and those tv ratings .

I detest Goodell . He’s ruining the game . He will drive me away eventually . “ the officiating has never been better “
F you Goodell . Terrible human being . Trump Esque liar just a bit smoother on the delivery .

Yeah, well this is a little more of an inconvenience than you're not being able to watch a game live that doesn't cost you a dime if you can't watch it. When you include the game ticket, airline flight, and hotel accommodations, it's not unusual for a single fan to spend a thousand dollars on attending a game in person.

If they give 2 weeks notice, it might work but with every team either playing on Monday or in Europe or already on Thursday it could be a scheduling nightmare and unfair to some team that might have to play 2 Thursdays in a season.
I think there might be some major push back from the NFLPA over that type of change.

Good point.
