Interesting. Might have been that he's more comfortable wearing a cap with those particular headphones, or perhaps it was because it was raining as he's never shown a tendency to wear a cap.

We were commenting about it, too.
I think it might partly be to try to keep the rain off of his glasses that he now wears. Kind of like an awning.

He said the hood wasn't working well to keep the rain off....but as for caps, the man has a nice head of hair at 70+ so why where a hat? Mark Davis should be so lucky.

I agree. My dad was completely bald, said that he started losing hair when he was 19, lost all he was going to lose when he was 29. You never, ever, saw that man outdoors without some sort of head covering, and a lot of it had to do with his being embarrassed of his expanded forehead. That's changed over the past 50 years or so as it's no longer a source of embarrassment for men, but it could be a factor in the 70-year-old Pete's habit of not wearing caps.

Are you kidding? Most middle-aged guys would love to trade Pete's shock for theirs.

I think I might not have explained my logic well enough. Back in the 60's and 70's, it was a bit of an embarrassment for a man to sport a bald head, so a guy like Pete, with such a full, healthy head of hair, was much less likely to wear a lid than those that were follicly challenged, to the contrary, he might have even wanted to show off his locks by not wearing one.

Michael Jordan and cool Aryan gang leaders made it cooler to sport a bald head in the modern day.

Mark Davis with a hat would look like Chris Griffen from Family Guy.

I'm as bald as Jay Buhner. It has it's advantages. My hair never gets wet anymore when it rains. And it never gets out of place . . . or never is in place. I'm not sure which.

At least for my generation, I think it started with an actor by the name of Telly Savalas who starred in a 70's TV series called "
Kojak," and played the macho tough guy crime detective Theo Kojack.
"Who loves ya, baby!" was his classic line.

I have excellent hair at 63 . Getting some grey in it . I’m not a hat guy . If I am it’s a ball cap backwards . I had never thought about Pete in a hat . Not too many would guess he’s in his 70s . His players don’t notice .

Political superstars like Pressley and Fetterman also contribute to the “hipness” of sporting a bald head……

I started shaving my head in the 70's. Now everyone does. I made it cool.

Yeah, the 70's is about the time head shaving became a thing. It's when my dad gave up letting the hair on one side of his head grow long so he could comb it over the top of his chrome dome and shaved everything off. I do think that
"Kojak" was his inspiration, though, and not C-bob.

I've always had a healthy head of hair, jet black like Elvis's, although over the past few years it's beginning to thin somewhat. I'm about 75-80% gray, much like Pete's, having found my first gray hair when I was 23. But unlike my dad, my snow cap was never an embarrassment for me. People said that it made me look distinguished, so I never tried to disguise it with hair coloring.
I wear baseball caps about half the time I'm outdoors, and I've always worn them bill forward. To me, if you're going to wear them backwards, you might as well cut the bill off and put a propeller on top of it.

I didn't start shaving because i was going gray, I started shaving because I was going bald and have curly hair ... the Larry Fine look just wasn't me.

I remember Kojack. Yul Brenner I think sported a bald look.
For my generation Jordan brought it back and lots of movies with Aryan prison gang leaders that were bald, tattooed, and heavily muscled.

I still have a full head of hair with some grey coming in. My grandfather on my mother's side had some baldness, but no one else. I hope to not to have to worry about it. If I did, I'd shave it bald. I keep my hair very short as I don't like worrying about taking care of hair. I grew the hair out long when younger because a girl liked long hair, then I found out what all that "I'm washing my hair tonight" was about. Long hair is a pain in the ass to take care of.

Well naturally we disagree . What’s wrong with a backward ballcap ? It’s my way for decades , a strong look . You want some of this look . No propeller needed .
Sounds like our hair is similar although mine is brown . Very little grey . I have a 7 year younger brother who is half bald . I’ll take it . Chicks still dig me

I've still got all the hair I had in my 20's. It's just in different places now.

I am balding more the last few years, but not matter because I cut it short. Not quite the bald look because I don't use a razor. I'm with Tri-CitySam in that it does not seem fair that the hair grows so well elsewhere. It is a bit like body cells, we constantly lose skin cells, brain cells, hair cells, but fat cells? They hang on for ever.

Telly Savalas made it cool to be bald back in the 60's when, as the evil Blofeld, he killed James Bond's wife, Diana Rigg.

Hey, Zorny! Great to see you again!
Savalas had some relatively minor roles before his debut as "Kojak", including "The Dirty Dozen", a hit movie starring Lee Marvin and Jimmy Brown. But men didn't really identify with the roles they played as much as they did when "Kojak" aired in the mid 70's. After all, how many men would have wanted to be identified along with a lunatic named "Maggott"?

Yeah and before that there was Yul Brenner in the King and I in the 50's, but the point is that is wasn't widely accepted, and even cool, until after I did it.
