Benched and will step away from team for the rest of the season. Except for the fact that the Raiders owe him big bucks as per his contract, I'd say he's finished with that team.

My understanding is that the Raiders can get out from under that contract with very little pain, at least when you compare it with their division's other underperforming quarterback.

Despite his lucrative new deal, Carr, 31, can be released or traded without financial penalty after the season, instantly saving the Raiders approximately $30M.

Carr 24 TD passes . 14 picks ( leads league ) 3 were last game . Not surprising .
Geno 27 TD passes . 9 picks .

Carr has had a consistent run game and a better defense with a true “ dude “ in mad max Crosby . An elite receiver and tight end .
He has been Geno light . Almost 5 k yards in 21 though . We will see what this stidham dude looks like . It’s entirely possible that he winds up back there but he’s an upgrade on some teams if he he gets let go too . It does kind of set a market for Geno too .

I said in another thread that they might be contenders to jump up for a top QB when we are on the board.
Chicago won't be taking a QB but the Texans are expected to so that would leave 2 of the 3 top QBs still there.
The Colts need one as well so maybe we trade back, get a bunch more picks and take a QB prospect later that needs development time.
Since we need an infusion of talent all over the team, this could be another building block year.
But if the Broncos win out then things change quite a bit.

The Broncos winning out would mean that they beat the Chiefs in Kansas City in a situation where they are tied with Buffalo for HFA and a first round bye.

However, the Chargers, the last opponent on their schedule, just clinched a playoff spot, so it's very likely that they'll be using Week 18 as a bye.

Their Defense is tough and they gave Mahomes his worst game just a few weeks ago, so it's a much better possibility than a lot of people think.
As well they will have a new HC and that sometimes gives teams a bit of a bump in attitude.

Perhaps, anything can and does happen. But don't hold your breath.

Yeah this year but no overall, come DC is a 3 time Pro bowler and is a top 12 QB in the league, if he goes to a winning team his numbers show that he could easily win 10 games. The AFC west is the worst, IF Geno had to play there we would not have won a game, except for the Chargers of course.

Listening to obiken, it would be interesting to see what Pete could do with a QB like Carr. Carr has not had a great coaching staff. Pete seems like the kind of the guy to make Carr reach a level he hasn't reached before. I wouldn't mind seeing it myself.

I’ve always liked Carr . He’s tough , authentic . Lots of turnovers though and some horribly inconsistent games . He was benched after 3 picks . This year Genos better . But Carr has 8 pretty solid years .
He will have a chance somewhere . So will Geno . It’s as starved a league for QBs as its ever been .

I've never been a big fan of Derek Carr's, but I agree that he's going to land somewhere as a starter. Same with Geno.

Boy, if this isn't the kiss of death for the Raiders and Carr:

As if we needed more proof that the Derek Carr era is no more in Las Vegas, we now have this.

The Raiders QB was benched by his team last week, to which Carr responded by asking the team if he could be absent from them for the remainder of the season, citing that he didn’t want to be a distraction.

It now appears as if Carr doesn’t need the Raiders as a distraction either.

Carr unfollowed the Raiders social media accounts on Friday amid rumors that the team would likely cut him at the end of the year.

Yeah, the handwriting is on the wall for this one. Both the team and Carr are burning the bridges.

They have to either cut him or pay him $40M this year.
I doubt they pay him to watch the games and would a team take on his existing contract? They might, but it's doubtful.

Davante Adams has also said thanks no thanks to Carrs benching and is refusing to play the last 2 as well . He made it plain that Carr was the only reason he came there.

A couple things though . Kyler Murray smoked his social media . Jimmy G said his goodbyes . Both were back .

The raiders didn’t do this because they are absolutely done with Carr . They did it to preserve their options and protect their finances. If stidham goes out and takes a dump the line of communication will stay open with Carr . A perennial 25 TD guy isn’t the worst thing that can happen . Just too many picks and they come in bunches .

I'm not sure where you heard that Adams wasn't playing, but he's been playing and playing well so far, with 5 catches for 105 yards and 2 TD's.
