DK's knee

Pete Carroll on @SeattleSports relieved at what Seahawks have learned about DK Metcalf and his injured knee: "We got a really good report this morning. He does not need surgery. He hurt his patellar (tendon) some…

"It’s a great report."

— Gregg Bell (@gbellseattle) October 24, 2022

I had a partially torn patellar tendon that was causing my patella to rub along the end of my femur, the fix was just a brace that holds the Patella in place until the tendon can repair itself.

About as good a report as could be expected.

Yeah, that wasn't a good sight, him being carted off the field with a knee injury. Thanks for the update!

I am sure we were all hoping it was just another #2 for DK when he got carted off  No such luck this time.

But that report is encouraging, there have been so many season ending injuries so far this year. Such is life in the NFL.

How did you guys like the way Marquise Goodwin played in Metcalf's absence? It shows why I'm not a fan of signing WR's to big expensive contracts or spend high draft picks on them. There's lots of really good WR's out there.

Geno did a nice job transitioning to him and he looks like a great pickup obviously . 4 catches on 4 targets , all first downs or touchdowns . I’ve been a huge advocate for DK and coming off his monster 13 quarters with Geno I saw him as critical to our offensive success . But I was wrong about that so far . I underestimated Geno and Waldron’s ability to use all the weapons at their disposal . DK has hurt Geno and the team with huge drops including that beautiful throw yesterday . It would be downright scary if DK was playing like last year . But with our 3 headed monster at TE and the emergence of Goodwin we made it work with no DK and a winged Lockett . If DK isn’t a huge factor and we’re still scoring plenty of points it kinda does look like an overpay .

Glad it isn't the dreaded injury. Still not great, but better than it could be.

I like having a DK. Goodwin did well enough, but he's no DK.

His leaping ability for 5-9 guy is incredible!

Oh, I agree, and I'm not saying that Goodwin is better than or even as close to being as good as DK. I'm just saying that it's a good demonstration of one of the reasons why wide receiver is down on my personal priority list when it comes to making a decision on who to draft or who to resign. There's some really good receivers out there that we haven't even heard of. Goodwin bounced around with 3 different teams before we got him. You can't say that about offensive tackles or edge rushers, at least not to the same degree.

I don't like to break the bank for any player as football is the ultimate team sport, but I do like one quality receiver with good chemistry with the QB. Seems that always helps a team. Then you can surround the core receiver with draft picks or moderately priced guys and do well enough. Right now Geno is so cheap, easy for us to afford DK and Tyler. Maybe not next year though. I get the feeling if Geno keeps up for the year, their might be a bidding war. Geno has to prove he can win from behind at least some of the time. Not many people will spend on a guy doing well for a year, but who can't get it done against playoff opponents in the fourth quarter with the game on the line.

DK says he wants to play on Sunday.
Pete isn’t ruling him out at this point but it depends on how well he heals.

Again we gotta move the goalposts for Geno . Now it’s he can’t win a game in the end from behind . I’ll point out a few things one more time to dispell a myth like he can’t throw deep , dinks and dunks , Charlie check down.
As a rookie Geno Smith led the Nfl with 3 game winning drives . KJ lauded his 2 minute drill as one reason for his endorsement “ even if it’s Mayfield or Jimmy G. Mmmmmm. In his first start on the road vs Steelers and Watt he got us to overtime in the final seconds and damn near got in field goal range . Second start vs saints he drove the team in position for both a game tying and game winning Fg and meyers missed both . Atlanta ? Couldn’t convert 4th and 18 . Detroit he audibled to 2 Pennny TD runs including 3rd and 18. Scored 32 on saints should have been 40 plus . Last 2 ? After our screw up on the punt led to a 3 point margin Geno went 6-7 to drive the team into the red zone where he audibled to a Walker run to salt it away . I think he’s audibled into 4 or 5 TD runs .

Sunday ? You play like they did don’t have to worry about a lot of combacks.

Geno is capable of doing anything asked of him .
