Agreed.
It became unwatchable for me.

It never was a true game, and had become even more of a joke in the past few years. I've been arguing for quite some time that they ought to get rid of it and find some other way to honor the season's best players, such as a skills competition in some tropical location like Hawaii. I'm glad that they finally came to their senses.

It used to be somewhat of a real game with players proud to attend and play actual watered down football . I couldn’t watch it anymore . It was hurting the brand .

I agree! I liked the College All-Star game where they played the NFL World Champion. Too many young players got hurt so they cancelled that.

Good analogy with the old College All Star game. I had forgotten all about that.

Baseball is in a similar predicament with their All-Star game as teams don't want to see their best pitchers get burned out in a meaningless game.

And then there is the NBA all star game where the rules aren't modified but there is an unwritten understanding you don't play defense.

Two of the most meaningful extra? post? season venues are the college senior bowl and the east-west shrine game. I did not say the most entertaining but the most meaningful. I say that because it gives some good players who come from programs that are not in the limelight exposure before pro coaching staffs and scouts - players that might not otherwise get any attention.

Truth
I remember the guy that went to the pro bowl and destroyed his knee playing sand football . It’s a tough enough sport
