All class in his post-game press conference. He still has nothing but love for Seattle and his former teammates. Glad he wore a Seahawks uniform. Glad he set the standard so high at QB.

I'd never boo the guy. He's too good a guy. I have too much respect for Russ and the way he lives his life.

Good luck, Russ. But you knew we had to do anything and everything we could to win this. It's the game. I'm sure you understand.

Did you really think he was going to say something different than what he did? Russell is the consummate politically correct personality. But, of course, my hat's off to him. I just wish all our fans were as respectful of him as he was to them.

I’m over Russ . I don’t hate him but I sure don’t love him . Glad he lost this . I do not wish him well . But thanks for the springboard NFL. It’s about Seattle winning now. Thanks for the matchup . The first round pick from Denver will be higher then ours . Good luck vs Mahomes and Herbert and Carr x 2 if you can’t outplay Mutt Dog :D

I blame the coaching more than I do Russell. Yes, he made a couple of poor decisions that he was lucky didn't lead to turnovers, but the offense was out of sync all night long. Russell was constantly trying to rush to get everyone to the LOS and didn't have time to make his reads when he was so focused on beating the play clock. Their clock/timeout management sucked, again not his fault. IMO Denver had the better team as they way outgained us, but the Hawks were better prepared. We were playing against a rookie head coach in his first ever NFL game and it showed.

What we saw last night won't last long. The problems they had are very fixable. I wouldn't take what we saw in this game and project it over the course of the remaining 16 games. If they were going to lose a game, it's better to lose to us than to a divisional or conference foe.

Russ will always be classy and as River said, will be PC in his interviews.

I can't imagine any Seahawks fan not having a place in their heart for Russ for all he did in Seattle both on and off the field.

However, that being said, I was OK with the smattering of boos he got last night. It was gametime and he had enemy colours on. Mental warfare? Would booing him effect him? He would never admit it but you know he heard them and that has to effect anyone making a return. As Pete said, the fans "competed" and were all in on winning a football game. The boo'ing probably came across as classless by many experts and fans of other teams, but I don't see it that way. Last night was not the time to have a lovey dovey return for Russ and cheer for him at any point.

I hope one day after he retires he is welcomed back and put in the ROH and at that point gets the ovation he truly deserves from the fans, I believe he is definitely worthy of that.

And Asea, will give you props. You called a Hawks win and the reason was because of coaching, moreso that Hackett was a rookie coach who would probably make mistakes. And boy did he ever butcher it at the end of the game. First game as head coach his mind was probably spinning at that point and he lost focus. And even in his post game presser, he looked like a nervous coach as talked really fast, was breathing heavily into the microphone when he wasn't talking, his heart rate was probably through the roof. He looked the entire part of a rookie head coach.

I don't care if Russ doesn't play a lick of quality football any more. I like the guy. More people like Russ in the world makes the world a better place.

Russell Wilson sets a fine example on the field and off the field. He also sets a great example for consistency. I know his children are learning a lot of positive lessons from Russ.

I like human beings like Russ. There aren't enough people like that in the world. Always positive. Always working hard. And being ambitious without being greedy, arrogant, or thinking he has to step on someone's back to be great himself.

Even when he looks across at his opponents and competes hard, he doesn't act like some low class trash loser. He shakes his opponents hand. He remembers his friends in Seattle and the things he respects about them beyond football.

Some people want to be voluntarily positive and good people in the world. That's Russ. He's that kind of person.

I highly respect those type of people.

I couldn't agree more. Does Russell have his faults? Like any other human being, he most certainly does. He's preoccupied with his image to a fault. He talks in cliches and metaphors so much that he sounds like a phony. He can be disingenuous, as he was during the trade negotiations. He wants everyone to love him, to adore him. But he's a first class guy that made me proud to be a Seahawk fan, and I'll never forget his contributions to the best period of Seahawk football that we've ever had. That's why you won't hear me calling him a little weasel or some other derogatory term.

I listened to some of Pete with Brock and Salk. Fascinating interview. Among other things he said a lot of the guys from the championship team were in town or reached out to him afterwards to express their joy and thankfulness for the win. Salk asked him why they would be so happy and he said" you figure that out for yourself. Football is the ultimate team sport and when the attention gets focused on one guy it upsets the others" (or words to that effect). Pete went on to say he wished he had another shot at the defensive game plan in a game he WON!!!. He wanted it bad. He wanted to shut him out. Im sure Russ wanted it bad too but our Hof coach outlasted our former HOF qb last evening.

For his greatness on the field and beneficent nature off it Russel's flaw seeking attention in the press such as the recent quotes dissing his teammates here "not all on my shoulders anymore" was a factor. When a team spokesman had to try to clean it up by saying he was talking about other trade destinations you know the team knew how bad that sounded. I haven't hear the stadium that loud since beast quake and I bet there were 20% donkeys in there. I can out yell any ten of the wimpy donkeys though and not kidding. nervous. Timid. Very few chants around me in sluggers.

Not today though. I sound like Marlon Brando on his deathbed.
Ill soften on Russ. Till he goes in the HOF as a donkey after 3 playoff wins in the next 5 years...

Lol yeah. Was that at the airport :D My buddy and I met Russ with Ashton in 2012 in front of the Edgewater. He was in a simple black suit, white shirt, red tie. Very humble soft spoken guy. I dont recognize this guy,

Gee, a photo of Russ dressed up with sunglasses. What does that change? If he were walking around like Aaron Rodgers with a grungy beard and a stocking cap, would that change things?

Russell isn't anything close to average.

But hey, way to take a pic and try to turn it into a stereotype.

I dont recall Russels time management being great here either. Id haver thought they would have been better prepared. But many of us pointed out Hackett hasn't coached a lick and got the job on Arods coattails. Russ sat all preseason, I'm sure that was his call because everything in the preseason was from what Ive read. Hes come out and defended Hacketts 64 yard try on 4th and 5. But that wasn't a fun ride home with 50 million man putting 16 on the board and bouncing a few off our guys for his new teammates to see. This win for Seattle will breed winning. This is a terrible opening loss for Denver. especially how it has exposed an absolute incompetent lightweight head coach.
They look like 5.5 to me, not us. top 10 pick minimum.

The Broncos' dysfunction last night clearly wasn't on the QB. Russell didn't even have an opportunity to get the team set. The calls were coming in late from the sideline. There were times when they had less than 5 seconds left when they finally got everyone positioned. And it's not as if it happened once or twice. It happened repeatedly.

Whether or not Russell had any input on whether or not to play in the preseason is irrelevant. The point is that they didn't and it showed. The Broncos weren't the only team that sat their starters during the entire preseason. Heck, Brady even took a week long LOA during TC. Had it not been for the QB competition, our starting QB might not have played in the preseason, either. It used to be that Game 3 of the preseason saw all of the starters play at least a full half, if not longer.

They didn’t go silent till the 4th quarter . No clue how to play at Lumen . I never said it was all on Russ and it wasn’t . It all happened in the first half but Geno completed his first 13 balls , 18 of his first 19 . Their defense has to take some responsibility for that . Although as you well know I think Geno is capable of being a postseason participant if he keeps completing 80% of his passes with no turnovers .

Thanks for the props, Agent.

I felt we had a lot of advantages in this game. I felt if we could contain Russ's mobility, we could beat him and the Broncos with their rook head coach. From here on out it gets harder. But for this one game, Pete knows how to scratch out a win.
