Ouch! Get well soon!

If you're going to self isolate, you might as well post in here more often. Gives you something to do.

Hopefully you have mild systems and can relax at home and get well. Eat some good food, don't drink caffeine or any sleep disruptor, sleep as much as you can, and hopefully you'll be done quickly.

On the day he was announced as starter for the pre-season Pitt game. Sucks -- might not get another chance until the season starts if he never got the shots. That would at least be 10 days or so. I wonder what this year's rules look like.

Also, we lost our rookie RB Kenneth Walker III to a hernia on the day he was annouced to start and 'carry the load' against Pitt.. The injury, well, that could be anywhere from a couple of weeks to a good part of the season to heal/surgery. Sucks again.

On the flip side, Penny is back on the field today. Not sure if he really practiced.

Oh, yea, it would help to read the thread title, wouldn't it?

Yes, it sucks big time for him. But at least it's just a preseason game, and he'll still have another game the following week.

What is it now, 5 days isolation, negative test, and no symptoms and they can return?

He's out just the 5 days unless he tests positive again, which is possible:

Players, however, must self-report symptoms and show a negative test before entering team facilities. If they test positive, however, they must self-isolate for five days.

Got to feel bad for the kid. He was good to get his first real practice reps with the number 1's. Hopefully he doesn't miss too much and can start week 3.

It's not a huge deal. Sure, he misses tomorrow's game and it's a big disappointment for him as he was going to get the start with the #1 unit, but there will still be 3 full weeks before the season opener including another preseason game for him to show his stuff. I'm a lot more concerned with Walker's hernia than I am Lock's Covid.

I agree Walker is a terrible development . I’m not aware of another team battling injuries to high draft picks as Seattle over the last half decade . If there’s a bright light Homer looked very good and Dee Jay as well . It may come down to Penny actually having to stay healthy .

I think it’ll be ok if he’s delayed a bit longer. I heard an analyst make a good case for Geno to be the Week 1 starter. It puts less pressure on Lock, since the reason when he’d come in is if Geno can’t get it done - less pressure than being expected to succeed right away. Not sure if he’s recovered from the confidence but he took being benched in Denver. Also, Geno should have as chance to prove he can play after years being Russ’ understudy.

Pre-registering an excuse in case we tank as so many expect us to?....Just kidding. :D

The injury to Walker highlights once again my reluctance to burn high draft picks on running backs: They are more subject to injury than other positions.

Hernias and groins are good examples. They occur when the lower body is subject to sharp and unexpected lateral moves, with the torso going one direction, the legs going another, like when a running back makes sharp cuts, changes of direction, and contorting their body to avoid taking direct hits. As we all remember, Beast had a hernia he had to deal with, too.

I thought that with Walker's body type, being shaped more like a fire hydrant than a light pole, that he might not be as subject to injury as your garden variety running back, but I guess I was wrong.

Dallas and Homer are good running backs. They are both reliable receivers, better blockers than either Penny or Walker and neither of them has lost a fumble in their career. Plus they have experience in Waldron's system. Besides, we probably weren't going to see a lot of Walker early in the season anyway, especially the way Homer and Dallas have looked.
