Wow, interesting. New owner Jeff Bezos? I wonder what kind of owner he'd make, hands on or hands off? I wonder if he'd buy out the naming rights to the stadium, too?

Was Art Thiel writing about the rift and the FO being "enraged" by the list of teams Wilson would go for?
I don't recall any stories about that, but I'm not in the Seattle area. If he hadn't and didn't write about it
why didn't he? Isn't it his job to let us know what's going on?
So if Bezos buys the Seahawks, I wonder if Musk will try to get the naming rights - Like Space-X field?
Billionaire games...

That is a very interesting twist! Thanks for the find, Bob. I trust Art Thiel, so the article is probably more than click bait. I would not be opposed to Jeff Bezos running the Seahawks. I think he might be more hands-on than Paul Allen was, and a hell of a lot more than his sister!
Worth keeping an eye on for sure .

At least they wouldn’t be starved for resources.
On a side note it’s really quite something to see all of the mega businesses that have come out of
the Seattle area. World dominator brands.
But I digress…

Now that I've thought about it, I doubt that Bezos would be interested in buying the Seahawks. The city of Seattle has literally run Amazon out of town, blaming them for the homeless problem because their presence means more expensive housing. I can't image him buying a team in a city that hates his company as much as Seattle does.

Fortunately for the Vulcan ownership there are a lot of 'new money' billionaires out there. I could easily see Larry Ellison step in. There are plenty of others.
In business you generally reduce your overhead ahead of a sale, so according to 'Overthecap.com' we now have the lowest active roster cost in the NFL and third most cap space, even with the 40 million in 'dead $$$' already locked in. Not sure if it's related, but there it is.
Someone mentioned the fire sale wasn't over. I could see us departing with a few other vets and yes, that includes Jamal Adams and Tyler Lockett.
Dead weight contract at this point. We are tanking for now.
Interesting that we resigned Pete ahead of this and then made him outright lie and promote BS reports for a few months. I just can't believe Pete and JS conjured this up at the end of last season by themselves.
I wonder if this all come around in the last few weeks, starting with "upper management" deciding on selling the team and putting Russell up for sale.
Who really just made the decision? I doubt it was Pete or JS.

Well, it was top of Vulcan, if true. So that's whomever has Jody's ear.
I have no idea other then i don't believe it was from a team level.

Hmm. My feeling is it came from Pete and John after seeing the writing on the wall. Russ wasn't happy here. They had to get something for him or they look ridiculous if he just leaves like almost all our other great players.

Exactly.
Russ wasn’t happy and wasn’t going to sign an extension so we either got the best deal now or get less next year.

Question for everyone. In the article Thiel states that the dead cap hit for Wilson is $26 million for the next 2 years. But as I understand it the Seahawks are only suffering that dead cap hit of $26 million for the next season.
Anyone know which is correct?

Spotrac shows 26m in 2022 for Wilson and no Dead Cap charge for the team in 2023.
I was under the impression the Dead Cap charges are applied to a single year in the
event of a trade. But I could be wrong.
