I thought they would hold on to him for the last few games, but the kicking incident had to be the last straw and maybe gives Khan a plausible out by saying he was fired for cause.
Firing for cause or not has $$ implications with the remaining contract.

Meyer's reply to the kicker's retort reveals Urban's narcissism: "I'm the head ball coach and I'll kick whoever I f*****g want!"

Khan has declared Meyer was fired for cause and doesn't intend to pay him the rest of his contract.
This might get ugly or interesting if you look at it that way.

My sense is that the lawyers will work out some sort of severance agreement. I don't think that either party wants this to drag out.

The league surely doesn't want any bad press, but if Meyer is a dick he might press it.
But I think you're right about a quiet legal settlement.
