Targeting DK

I was doodling around and decided to research DKs targets and catches per game . It’s kind of eye opening comparing his stats with Russ and with Geno . Russ has targeted him 38 times with 22 completions and 3 TDs in 8 starts . Geno targeted him 21 times completing 17 of them for 5 TDs in 3 starts and 4th quarter Rams where both he and Russ threw a TD to DK. Both men had anemic averages per pass targeting him . Geno averaged 6 yards but Russ is a brutal 4.5 yards average targeting him and that’s with some huge chunk plays . To be fair DK has had some drops when targeted by Wilson. Just quite an eye opening stat . Hopefully they get the connection going today .

DK 5 catches for 60 yards with a long of 33. Still no Tds since Russ returned but definitely his and Russes biggest day post return. I liked the way Russ threw the ball and the decision making most of the time. Dramatically better.

Russ alluded to never missing a game in any sport in his life, so it was a different experience for him to have to sit out a month.
I think that was a big factor when he returned. He didn't know how to shake off the rust and it frustrated him. Now he's back in
a bit of a groove and should get better next game.

It was so different , Russ was dropping dimes on DK. I’ve been winding through film .
Bad Russ and PC had burned a TO then still got a delay of game to be 3rd and 13 or something . Russ threw it on a rope to DK in tight coverage at the goal or we might be talking about our brutal time management . If Russ and DK get that connection back it’s hard to stop . It was nice to see Eskridge get one after the year he’s had and Stone Forsyth even played a little . So some complaints were addressed . Kudos Hawks!

Geez, you reminded me about that delay of game penalty. Getting called for delay of game AFTER you took a timeout on offense. Inexcusable.

Yeah a 33 yard dart creates temporary amnesia in fans . But that shows there’s still stuff to clean up . I’ve seen it before too and it’s inexcusable.

Pete's always had time management issues as long as he's been here and I think it's happened before with his teams here.
It's part of the not going to an up tempo issue from my perspective. Not that they can't but that they don't.

I don't consider the delay of game penalty a game management issue, more an organizational or communication problem, not having the right play or personnel ready to go. A game management problem is going for the first down inside the 10 with less than 7 minutes left in the game when a FG with a 95%+ success rate would have given us a 2 score lead, a decision made even worse when you consider our performance in short yardage situations such as our failed 2 pt. conversion last week, that we were without our best run blocking OL, and that our QB isn't a Cam Newton-Josh Allen-Lamar Jackson type running threat.

But you're right, Pete's made mistakes like that his entire career, including when he was at USC.

Not getting a play off at any point in the game is a time management problem, but because it's happened before and we've come close before, is it a
matter of Pete getting involved with the play and muddling up the information so it isn't clear or quickly decided? They should be able to decide quickly
what they want to do, call the play then have Russ communicate it to the team quickly and get the play off within 15 seconds of the play clock starting.
If, Pete starts demanding to do something that is out of step with the OC and QB, then there could be a problem.

I agree with your basic premise. Our differences are in semantics.
