PFT reports that we are trading Witherspoon to Pittsburgh.
No terms yet, but it seems he didn't work out here.
After a number of CB signings, the writing was on the wall for someone to go, I suppose.

2nd Edit:
2023 5th round pick for Witherspoon.

I have some friends that are claiming that we're signing Richard Sherman, of which if true, this trade would make a lot of sense.

This means as of now, Tre Flowers will be a starting corner? Or will it be Reed and Jones? What a muddy situation at CB, the pass rush better be on top of their game to start the season.

Pete has indicated it will be Flowers and DJ Reed. Despite fan criticism, he has talked very highly of Flowers - his improvement in training camp - as has some of the media.

I guess that's why Pete's the head coach of an NFL football team and I'm an armchair quarterback because I don't get the impression that Flowers has improved at all, at least not from what I've seen of him in the preseason. IMO Flowers is the biggest liability on our defense. He simply doesn't have that 6th sense it takes to know when it's time to turn his head and play the ball instead of the receiver.

Neither CB that is currently expected to start would make Offenses shiver in fear, so the only thing
I can think of is they are expecting big things from the pass rush. If we don’t get the pass rush then expect
a lot of shootouts to make up for it.

This trade makes management look kind of lame. The Hawks pick up a player from SF that they've seen twice per season for 4 years. That assumes that Schneider is well aware of his skillset. So if he's that expendable why sign him to begin with? I doubt that Sherm is the reason, but you never know...

Isn't Sherm's legal status a question mark at this point?

That's a good question. There's been no news on that front for nearly two months. They should have had the toxicology reports for some time, so if they were going to charge him with a crime, you would think that they would have done so by now and since it's public information, that we would have heard about. I'm no lawyer, but if I were to guess, I'd say that he's good to go.

The NFL is under no requirement to follow law enforcement and/or prosecution in determining penalty on a player. The fact that it involved the hated "domestic violence" is enough to get him 4-6 games. I just don't see the risk.

My take is that unless we have been hoodwinked and Tre Flowers could actually be a good starting LCB and Reed's move to RCB 2 weeks before the season also is a coaching move to put the 2nd best CB on the field and doesn't represent a much bigger issue then we should be OK. On the other side is panic mode. I don't know what gives with 'Spoons sudden departure, but somethings not right in Seahawk land.

Maybe he asked to be treaded when the Coach told him he wouldn't be a starter.
