Interesting article about the Seahawks trying to rework his contract - keep him getting the same $, but more upfront money while helping Hawks cap space. Reed said no (against his agents advice) and took a 37% drop in pay to go to KC.

I lost interest in keeping this guy when he made it clear he is all about the money, while at the same time vastly over-rating his value. I do not recall this guy taking over games as a D-tackle. He's not Aaron Donald. No one fears him on the opponent. His sacks seem opportunistic due to other players pressuring freeing him up or running the QB into him. He's a guy who thinks he's better than he is. I didn't care when he left. Even in his 10 sack season I didn't even realize he had 10 sacks because it didn't seem like he took over any games or did anything special. It was like he lucked into a bunch of sacks or happened to be the guy making the final sack hit after the QB ran everywhere else. I've heard plenty of games where Bennett, Avril, Clowney, and even Dunlap have wreaked havoc on O-lines. Never really heard that much about Reed.

He was our best interior lineman, so it's going to be a step down with Al Woods replacing him.
If we look at the timing, we can guess he got wind of the Lockett extension and got emotionally bruised by not being offered a similar long term deal but since the Cap is in such a bad
space, he couldn't be offered such a deal at this time.
