I hope they keep their current name too. I kinda dig the number on the helmet sans logo.

And I'll tell you, I'm happy for Ron Rivera. Success couldn't happen to a classier individual. He waded into swamp when he took that job and seems to be pulling a very dysfunctional team together. Did I hear today on ESPN that they won today without the offense scoring any TDs?
trents wrote:I noticed that RW had little pressure on him yesterday from the Jets and he was connecting with his receivers again like we saw in the first several games. I'm thinking a lot of his recent struggles have been rush pressure related.
trents wrote:So, yeah, I'm guessing the WFT has set a precedent and eventually we will be the SFT. "Sea Hawks" probably doesn't fly well (excuse the pun) with green folk because it stereotypes raptors as aggressive.

Old but Slow wrote:The rather generic name: Washington Football Team, is growing on me. My choice would be to call them the D. C. Football Club.
The DC would ease the "which Washington" question. And as a "club" they add a polite element balanced with a more menacing side (as in caveman). And Football? Couldn't call it the Cricket Club.
And leather helmets.......

The term "Redskins" is actually a term used by some native American warriors to refer to enemies they had scalped.

Carlos Dunlap: Dunlap played through a foot injury in Week 13, but in an attempt to let that injury heal some, the Seahawks held him out on Sunday. Nothing is set in stone yet, but Dunlap is confident he will be back this week.
Shell and Ogbuehi: Shell returned to the lineup Sunday after missing two games with an ankle injury, but was unable to finish the game after aggravating the injury. "His comments were that he's not worse than he was last week, starting the week, so that's good," Carroll said. "He tweaked it a couple times in the game, and we determined that we didn't want to finish him."
On Ogbuehi, who has missed two games with a calf injury, Carroll said, "Cedric's getting ready to play this week too. He's going to come back with the mentality of Wednesday that he's practicing to play, so that's a good sign for us. We definitely need something to happen there, we need some help there, because we're scrambling a little bit to get guys on the field yesterday."
DK Metcalf: "I think he's OK today as far as I understand, but immediately after he felt it and it was bothering him, we didn't know if it was anything," Carroll said. "I can't tell you the extent of it yet, but at least he finished the game and played really well."
Penny and Dunbar: "Rashaad is going to practice as if he's practicing to play the game, so we'll see how that works out," Carroll said. "We'll figure it out by the end of the week, but he's going with the mentality that he's up and eligible and all of that, so we'll see how that goes. Quinton is really in the same vein, he's going to get ready to play in the game, and we'll find out at the end of the week and call it when we get all the information."
Greg Olsen: "He's challenging right now to practice this week, so we'll see what that means," Carroll said. "He's very, very positive and upbeat about the fact that he has a chance to get back here very soon, maybe this week or next week. I don't know what to tell you until we see him."

I ain't buying that at all. I've got a lot of family and friends that are a lot more Indian than I am and have never heard that before. Sounds made up to make someone feel better about their using it. It's a racial epithet just like the N-word. Glad to see it gone.
