Haven’t seen too many halves of defense as bad as the one I just witnessed..

Ironic as one of my buddies said the exact same thing.

Hawks on pace to give up 600 yards a 48 points. Hopefully we can make some halftime adjustments.

I expected Buffalo to run the ball more. They have 3 rushing attempts, and one of them was Josh Allen on a scramble.

You know they are going to do something to get in field goal range. Frustrating...

It will be interesting to see how many times we blitzed this game because it feels like we have blitzed every play of the second half... we’ve basically had 1 defensive stop all game.

Pathetic... Out coached...out played... RW might have just lost the MVP race too. Hawks looked as bad today as they have in a long time.

Ken Norton gotta go. Sad to say, but he is not doing the job.

Losing this game isn’t the end of the world as far as playoffs go, but it’s how we lost that is concerning. We have to take care of business over the next two weeks or we’re looking at a low playoff seed.

Worst game of the season by far, but if we were going to lose one, this was it. Defense was horrible, but Russell played poorly, too.
So goes Russell Wilson, so goes the Seahawks. In our 2 losses, Russell has had 7 turnovers. In our 6 wins, he's had 3.

No question but We got to get Carson back, I told you if we got by this we were home. We didnt. However we got NY, Jets, WA, and Philly should win them all.

On a better note, we caught a big break today as the Cards just got Tua'd by Miami.

At least the Cards lost so we’re still in first place in the division.

As I'm watching Tampa Bay and Tom Brady go down 31-0 at halftime, I can't feel too badly about our performance today.

Hawks got seven sacks today but from blitzing rather than front four. You can live or you can die by the blitz. It's no substitute for good pressure from the front four.

No question pressure from your front four is ideal. The Hawks need to blitz but they basically blitzed every play in the second half (I'm sure it wasn't every play, but it was way too many). They also blitzed on 2 plays that just seemed incredibly stupid to me. One was on 3rd and forever when the Bills were clearly only going to try to improve field position for a better field goal try. The other was after the Hawks had effectively blitzed the crap out of the Bills on the previous possession, resulting in their first (and only, I think) punt. I told my boys (7 and 8) that the Hawks better not blitz here because a screen was coming and sure enough it happened. I am not saying I could do any better or anything like that, but our defensive calls have been headteachers. Either we blitz way too much or not enough. RW can't turn the ball over 4 times, but I would argue that his 2 INT's were because we were down so much so early. It is unlikely that PC goes for it on 4th down that early in the game if the Hawks are within 1 score and the second one happened on a 3rd and 25, again there is no way they are throwing that in a normal game setting if they are within a score. Not good...

Yep. And to make matters worse, our corners have this habit of playing 8-10 yards off the LOS. Blitzing puts us into a man-to-man, and our secondary isn't good enough to stay with their receiver that long.
Getting Dunlap should help, though.

One of the weirdest defensive performances ever. How you get 7 sacks and give up 44 points is mystifying. But as my son pointed out they either sacked him or for the most part left him completely clean while blitzing leaving wide open guys all over the field. Then the screens that just gashed us in 3rd and forever after a couple of those sacks. Carroll said post game "we weren't ready for them to abandon the run game. We need to be able to adjust better than that". Sounded to me like a thinly veiled criticism of his DC.
I cannot understand this Norton still being here any more than I understood Bevfool hanging around. Pete is too loyal with assistants IMO and it could cost us an excellent opportunity.
Also can I get a witness? Most guys that get sacked 7 times have a bad game. That Allen kid is a swinging ding dong. What a stud. He's a cross between Cam Newton and Big Ben with the only stronger arm than Ruses I've seen recently. The ball is wrinkle free and gets there in a millisecond. Its hard to defend when he's on and he was on. That kid will be around a while if he stays healthy and its looking like they and Miami in the division going forward. They were a 6-2 team and we played at 10 AM, they didn't turn it over once, we did 4 times including deep in our territory, worst game Russ has had in a while. As bad as our D played that's how well they schemed to stop our passing attack and when DJ got hit out of bounds and basically dinged up we had no answers. Still we put up 34 points and kept a 2 score margin in a game a Holmgren team would have been beaten 55-7. Our QB hung in and finished the game despite 18 knockdowns, some brutal wicked hits. We have to protect the guy better than that or he will be injured. Schottys worst calls of the year. There are days to throw deep when you have Carson to block and your line isn't getting overwhelmed but I watched Drew Brees dink and dunk Tampa into oblivion all night.
But I think they flush this one and go back to work. Its a non conference loss to a division leader . I am not too worried about this loss. I hope it does for our defense what being lazy and losing that sure TD did for DK who is suddenly the most dominant big receiver in the league IMO.
6-2 is not a disaster

If they lose either of the next 2 get back to me

It's sad that we've gone from an historically good Defense to an historically bad Defense in 1 decade.

We have already, in 8 games, given up more yards and points than the 2013 team allowed in 16 games!!!

The knock on Kyle Allen is his inconsistency. There's potential there for greatness if he can become more consistent. Probably the biggest arm in the NFL and mobile.

I think he's there. Russ is going to the HOF and he was inconsistent. This kid is a brute and the big knock on him was accuracy and decision making and he's looked pretty good on that most of the year. Legit dark horse super bowl contender IMO.

Not quite. So far this season, we've given up 3646 total yards. In 2013, we surrendered 4378. However, when you look at passing yards, this year's team in our first 8 games has given up 2897 yards while the 2013 squad gave up just 2752 during the entire 16 game regular season.
https://www.espn.com/nfl/stats/team/_/v ... s/dir/descYou're right about points scored. This season, we have given up 243 points in 8 games vs. 231 in all of 2013.

I don't think we have a serious chance at the SB with a defense this terrible. If Pete doesn't get this turned around, it will be another could've, would've, should've season.

If Josh Allen is inconsistent, his numbers don't show it.
Josh Allen is this season's stealth quarterback. While Russell and Patrick Mahomes have been attracting all the attention, Allen is quietly putting together an MVP quality season. His numbers are right up there with both Mahomes and Russell and his team is leading their division with a 7-2 record. He deserves to be in the MVP discussion.

One of the pregame shows was talking about Allen this year and his numbers for the first few games were great but his 2nd few
were terrible. That was pregame, of course so maybe he's back on track.
