Yes, Robertson was fun to listen to, but not always because of his nuts and bolts play-by-play descriptions. I can remember listing to Coug football games way back in the 60's. Robertson overhyped his broadcasts to such a degree that it was laughable even as a Coug fan, his getting so pumped up when WSU scored to narrow the deficit to 48-10. He reminds me a bit of the Mariner's Dave Niehaus in that regard. But it was fun and entertaining.

He was a fixture at WSU, and hearing his voice over the radio became a sure fire sign that fall was in the air.

Oh man, with him and Jim Walden broadcasting, they redefined "homer".

Which was his job, and he did it extremely well. Robertson was supposed to be a homer. All good team announcers are heavily biased and are supposed to help generate excitement around the team, make people want to come out to the game and support their school/team. Pete Gross was the Seahawk's equivalent of Bob Robertson.

But Robertson's homerism truly was laughable to any halfway objective listener in a way Pete Gross never was.
