Mynorthwest has decided to no longer allow "comments" on it's website. Apparently too many "uncivil" comments ("while our writers are willing to take a certain amount of abuse....").

Interesting. We could use some fresh blood. But the mods here don't take a lot of crap, either, and rightfully so.

I dont know River, I dont know what he said but you have to go way over the line for Yoder to ban you. Just my experience.

There's been several banned over the past year or so for "uncivilized behavior"...Largent80 and seahawksforever come to mind. Point is that this isn't an online version of the Jerry Springer Show if that's what participants are looking for. Besides, this site has the tendency to police itself so there's no need for very much intervention by our mods.

The internet is filled with nuts looking to antagonize. I've talked to a few of them. One guy explained how he made many different accounts and logged on to forums as different people with different viewpoints to encourage fights between groups with differing opinions. Internet anonymity pretty much makes any site without fairly active moderation a cesspool.

First off, I love you guys/gals (that means you Sis). There have been times where things became beyond heated, as in full on threats of legal action. You should see some of the PM's I've received in the past. In all fairness, I would give warnings, then second warnings. I remember creating polls if you thought "so and so" should be put on probation/banned/etc. I took your advice.

I truly want people to express their opinions, argue their points, say their piece, downright fight if you have to. The only thing I can't tolerate is slurs, physical and digital threats (IE: Doxing), you get the point. RD is right, this place is self policing for the most part. Any time someone has been banned, I've reached out for advice from some the the Shack Tribal Wisefolk.

We're a little Shack in the corner of the internet and you bring up points that I love to read, from the left, to the right, to the middle. As long as everyone is cool, not saying there can't be a little dirt, but still wake up and be able to shake hands with each other. Report things if you deem them threatening. Simple as that...and I'll reach out to you to see how I can handle it.

Wow, nice post, my friend! Thanks for keeping this place up and running.
