I know I was more pissed than anyone when he left, but we have to feel good about another Hawk in the HOF!

You're not the only one that was pissed. Of course it's all hindsight, but that was the worst move any GM of ours made, getting snookered by an agent after putting the transition tag on Hutch instead of the franchise tag.

But time heals all wounds. As you said, nice to see another Hawk don a gold jacket.

Is he going in as a Seahawk or Viking?

I don't think that they declare a team like they do in baseball, but I could be mistaken. He spent 5 years with us, 6 with the Vikings, and one with the Titans.

Hutch definitely had the resume: 7 Pro Bowls, 5 first team All Pro selections, a member of the 2000 All Decade team, and one ring that should have been.

Huck Futch.

But I am happy for him, he deserves it.

What IF RW had Walter Jones and Steve Hutchinson to throw behind? I asked my best friend who lives in Cleveland, who is NOT a Hawks fan, that question. He said: Holy Crap! He'd drop back in the pocket, get a manicure, haircut, put his helmet back on, and figure out who was open! I asked him if you put RW on the Ravens with 12 pro bowlers what would happen? He texted me back one word, Domination!

If 'if's' and 'but's' where candy and nuts, what a Merry Christmas we would have!

Although your point is well taken (and one should recognize the other offensive linemen on those teams, like Tobeck and Gray), you and your friend need to keep in mind that it was A LOT easier to block for Hasselbeck than it is for Russell.

Congrats I guess. I knew it was inevitable when he was leaving that he was HOF caliber but basically signing a contract that didn't give Seattle a chance to match was dirty dealing by he and his agent.I hate the guy, sorry but I hate Ruskell worse. I guess you take the good with the bad. He Drafted Hill and Tatupu, signed Jurevicius and a few other movies I've forgotten and Seattle went to the SB. Then losing Hutch... :evil:I advocated just guaranteeing Hutches contract at the time and in hindsight it would have been a bargain. Hutch forever changed the guard market, the perception of their importance. The year he left Seattle both Hass and SA were battling injuries early in the season and seattle's offense was a shell of itself.LG has been a revolving door most of the last 14 years. Even the great WJs career was extended by having a guy like that next to him. In those 5 years WJ almost never had to worry about an inside move because as Art Thiel wrote so eloquently Hutchinson "mauled anyone who got within reach of his person".
As Ruskell said when he was fired a few years later "On my tombstone it will say, here lies the guy who lost Steve Hutchinson"

It is a sad chapter in the Holmgren era.

As much well deserved grief that we've given Ruskell, we have to remember that it was his trade in the 2009 draft that gave Pete and JS the ability to draft Earl Thomas. That was one of the 3 or 4 favorable one sided trades in franchise history.

Ruskell was super lucky someone fell in love with Tim Tebow. Ruskell took the smart trade, but it was almost a gift to any sane GM.

Actually it wasn't Tebow that Denver and Josh McDaniels traded up for. They traded up to pick some no name defensive back (Alphonso Smith?) that was out of the league in 3-4 years. And you can't just assume that the trade fell into Ruskell's lap. We don't know how many times Ruskell said no before they finally gave us what we wanted.

Good point about Thomas.
The guy got us to the SB for the first time. Too bad he couldn't pick the refs. Stealers got to do that. Still I cant get too excited for Hutch. he's a traitor.
