Injury Report

Looks like the offensive line is going to have to rely on its depth this weekend:
Sidelined for the Seahawks were left tackle Duane Brown (biceps), right guard D.J. Fluker (hamstring), and defensive end Branden Jackson (neck). Of that trio, Brown has played the past two games with the injury while Fluker was the only injury reported from last Thursday's win over the Los Angeles Rams, a contest the veteran exited early to injury.
“Fluke’s got a hamstring that we’re working on," Seattle head coach Pete Carroll said prior to Wednesday's practice. "He can’t practice right now. He’s not ready to go.”
In Fluker's absence against the Rams, second-year pro Jamarco Jones filled in admirably with Ethan Pocic inactive because of a back injury. Pocic (mid back), who has missed the past three games, practiced in limited fashion for the Seahawks on Wednesday.https://www.seahawks.com/news/wednesday ... ined-for-s

They do not make O-lineman like they used to. 300 lb. pieces of porcelain. O-lineman used to be some of the toughest, rub some dirt on it players in the game. Now they're 300 lb. wimps.

Duane Brown had the exact same injury designation all last week and then player every snap. I wouldn't be too worried.
Jamarco, DJ's replacement looked like he'd played guard as his natural position and played his ass off last Thursday against one Aaron Donald among others after coming in late in the first qtr. I noticed that in the first quarter both our guards play pretty much sucked, (I call them our 2 Totem Poles) but once Jamarco came in the line played far better.
As for 'injuries, I viewed that report and think it's one of the best injury reports I've seen in the last 5 years for the Seahawks 6 weeks into the season. Basically, everyone except DJ is healthy and available to play. We're rested, Russell's on fire, The Brown's are f'd up and coming off a short week. We should win by 10+

Nice post, and I concur. It's a good injury report. I was surprised to see Jones in there and thought he did a good job, too.
The Browns are reeling. There's stories out there about Baker Mayfield not being such a great locker room guy. Kitchens benched him late in the 4th quarter. There's rumors that they've put OBJ on the trading block. They were the darlings of the league in the offseason just 6 weeks ago but have dipped below .500 and you can just hear their fans saying "here we go again!".
On the flip side of the coin, Russell is playing the best football of his career and on an MVP pace. Chris Carson seems to have gotten over his early season butter fingers as he hasn't fumbled the past two weeks while getting 25+ touches and 135+ yards. We're coming off a mini bye while the Browns are returning from the west coast on a short week with their tail between their legs. I'd give 10 points and take us, too.

I note that earlier in the week the Browns were 2 point favorites where as today Seattle is a 1.5 point favorite.

Cowherd called this game for the Browns. The Bounce back theory.

6 days is awfully quick for a bounce back when you consider all the bad vibes floating around that franchise this week. Mayfield had his worst day as a pro and was embarrassed on national TV. My guess is that the drubbing they took Monday leaves a really sour taste in their mouths. I'm still picking the Hawks by two scores.
A loss wouldn't be devastating as we still play the Niners twice and the Rams once, but a win would put us in a great position going forward.
Another thing to ponder is that next week, we get Jarran Reed back from suspension.

Playing against a team with a damn strong front 7. My initial thought watching MNF was we win by 10 but all these injuries on the line they better plan on running the hall a lot and Russ better have his head on a swivel too. The browns are a Jekyll and Hyde team. Don’t underestimate them.

Wilson will not need a swivel, this is a prime PC run first, second and 3rd and punt at all cost dont open it up. I suspect we will run 40+ times this game, and throw under 20. PCs answer to adversity has always been become even more conservative. So our defense better step up big time.

When was the last time we ran the ball 40 times
and threw less than 20? It hasn't happened this year.
We're 4-1 and in as good of a spot as any team in the conference, Russell is playing the best football of his career, and is widely considered one of the leading candidates for MVP. What's your problem?

40/20 run/pass ain't happening unless we open a 1st quarter 3 TD lead.

What adversity? That he's 4-1 and coming off a win over the defending NFC champs?
Boy, someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

Wow Asea, little harsh there. I think Olinemen were tough when they were like 280lbs and DLs were under 300#s too. But that much beef has to do some damage over time. I wouldn't want to play on the line (Either side).

Dissly's injury is a big concern. Did anyone hear how severe the Achilles is?

Listening to Carroll's post game presser it sounds major, I'm assuming he's gone for the season.

Ouch!
Defensive lineman Quinton Jefferson, one of the team’s most consistent pass rushers, has already been ruled out with an oblique injury. The other five are questionable: left tackle Duane Brown (biceps), right tackle Germain Ifedi (knee), corner Tre Flowers (neck), safety Bradley McDougald (back) and defensive end Ziggy Ansah (ankle). That doesn’t even include newly-acquired safety Quandre Diggs, who’s also listed as questionable with a hamstring issue.https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/se ... spartanntpIt looks like we'll have another major shuffle on the OL. It sounds like Brown is playing as he was a full participant in Friday's practice, but Ifedi wasn't. Fluker is supposedly ready to go, meaning that Jamarco Jones, who's played very well in Fluker's absence, could slide over from RG to RT.
The pass rush doesn't look to get better, with Jefferson out and Ziggy questionable.
QB Matt Ryan of the Falcons is nursing a bad ankle, and is to be evaluated today after a robust workout yesterday. Just reading between the lines, it looks like he's going to play.
Our next two opponents are a combined 3-10, but it gets tougher from there, starting with the undefeated Niners.

Falcons just brought up a rookie QB from the practice squad. Pretty sure that means we see Schaub tomorrow. Why would Atlanta, who's season is pretty much overm risk their 'franchise' QB against us? Doesn't seem necessary.

Yup, Ryan is officially out tomorrow. We'll see Matt Schaub.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300000 ... s-seahawksInteresting personal tidbit about Schaub. I attended the Seahawks-Texans game down in Houston in 2013, our Lombardi year. That was the game where Richard Sherman got a pick 6, losing a shoe in the process, that we ended up winning in overtime. It was the 3rd game in a row that Schaub had thrown a pick 6.
In the parking lot after the game, a Texan fan saw another Texan fan wearing a #8 Schaub/Texan jersey and offered him $100 for it. The fan gladly took the Franklin in exchange for the jersey, of which the buyer promptly dropped on the ground, poured some lighter fluid on it, and set it on fire.

Schaub is the type of OQ that when the Seahawks play them the backup QB always has some type of career day, makes me more nervous than having Ryan play.
hawks start their usual slow game and muck around in the first half. have to battle and win by 2-4 pts in the 4th.

Wilson was on the report a couple days ago with a knee. He said he was fine and practiced fully.
I always get weirded out by backups too. Although there’s plenty of film on schaub. We shall see. Their pass defense is awful. Russ should feast. It’s a big game . The outcome is the difference between keeping pace or being an also ran fighting for the 6 seed. If we can’t win this we’re not very good.

I agree with the above two posts. By all measures, we should win this game going away. It's a classic trap game.
I saw where Russell appeared on the injury report. IMO it's one of two things, or a combination of both: We're giving the Falcons something to think about...like them crashing their DE on read options...or we're avoiding a situation where we get in trouble by not reporting injuries.

Fact of the Day: With Matt Ryan's consecutive game starting streak over tomorrow, Russell Wilson now has the third longest streak going @119 games, behind only Philip Rivers and Detroit's Matthew Stafford. Has it really been that long? Seems like only yesterday we were questioning who the heck this kid was that all the experts trashed the night we drafted him.

Yesterday the Hawks put Tedric Thompson on IR as he's having surgery on an injured shoulder. It's weird because there was no indication that he sustained an injury to his shoulder that serious until yesterday. Might have something to do with his performance. Bradley McDougald should be back and take over for Thompson this Sunday.
Quinton Jefferson and Mike Iupati are likely out as neither practiced yesterday. However, Tre Flowers was a full participant and should play Sunday.
