Is this season a waste of time?

NE's defense looks awesome, it was the best in the league last year, and they added to it! All they have to do is keep TB upright and no one stops them. That was a beat down last night in Boston, and their next 5 games are in the bag. Man I hope I am wrong.

Jeebus Obi, it was the first game of the year, the least reliable indicator of how you team is of the whole year ... take a breath.

So, didn't the Patriots look unstoppable back in 2007 when they went undefeated? Good thing the Giants didn't throw in the towel that season.

Yea, Obi my friend, you really stepped in it with your pessimism. This isn't college football with some 120 or so teams in the division where if Oregon loses their first game against Auburn they're out of the hunt for the NC. This is the NFL, with a league of 32 teams and a season that lasts a full 4 months where you can go to the playoffs with a sub .500 winning percentage.

obi, every time you look to the future and start to worry, just repeat the following mantra:

2007
2007
2007

You'll feel better, I promise. ;)

The biggest factor is going to be injuries. We don't know how that will pan out for NE or any other team. The healthiest team in the playoffs has a clear advantage but is not guaranteed to win it.

I thought this was another sarcastic 1-0 is a disaster type of thread, but it seems Obi was serious.

Okay, you guys pissed me off, here it is: I was serious. There is NO team in the next 7 games that have a chance in beating NE as long as Brady stays upright. They have a clear path to the Ravens. Now I agree we only have to worry about them in the SB, but lets be honest what is the best we can hope for? 12-4, that's the River prediction, and that is a major reach. I am not fretting about it, I am just saying that Billy is all in on this year, and then I think they are done. Donny Shelton, was good at the U of Washington, warmed over garbage at Cleveland, and now money for NE. On 2007, they were lucky no to win and break the Dolphins record, they were lucky to beat us. Its not about them its about us, we be a lot better in 10 weeks then we are now. So yeah, I was serious ID, sorry. Sure we will play out the charade like with the GS Warriors, but barring injuries they are home. But that is just one man's opinion.

No teams that have a chance? Come on, man! New England has been upset by some pretty lousy teams in the past few years. For example, last season they lost to the Jacksonville, Detroit, Tennessee, Miami, and Pittsburgh. Not a single one of those teams made the playoffs. You are looking at the results of one game and trying to project performance over the entire 16 game season. Yes, New England looked damn good, but they were playing at home against a non playoff team from last season. You would expect them to look good. Besides, they're not only in a different division, they're in a completely different conference. The teams we should be eyeballing are the Rams and Saints, and not j/b they're in our conference, they're part of our next 4 games. Relative to our own chances, don't start worrying about AFC teams until late January.

It's a long, long season. There are a lot of things that can and do happen besides injuries. Did you see the latest news that just broke about Antonio Brown being charged with rape?

Just chill out, Obi. Jezus.

NO will be different without Brees. I wonder if they will start Hill over Bridgewater to see if he is the heir apparent to Brees.
If he does well, he might be like Steve Young who's play which made it possible to move Montana. For sure, Hill's athleticism
adds another dimension for our D to plan for, and their Offense might be a lot different because of it, but in the end it's still
about hitting, tackling, making plays, and imposing your will on their Offense.

I heard that they were talking about going to a 2 platoon system, like Roger Staubach and Craig Morton from decades ago.

Ok River, I was wrong. The Pats are a good team but its an even bet that the Saints are better. The Pats will lose games. I was really overly enthralled over the Pats. Sorry!

Way to man up, Obi!

It's really difficult to get a handle on how things are going to shake out until a good 4-5 games into the season. How many of us would have guessed that the Saints would win 3 straight WITHOUT Drew Brees with two of those coming on the road against playoff teams or the Colts going on the road and beating the Chiefs WITHOUT Andrew Luck? How many of us would have said that the Buffalo Bills would be tied with the Chiefs for the 2nd best record it the AFC?

It's a funny very unpredictable game, which is why I love the NFL vs. other sporting ventures. It's become what Commissioner Bert Bell once said should be their stated goal: "On any given Sunday."

A win is a win. Hawks are a loss by the 9ers tonight from being in the lead in the division ,tied for HFA throughout in the NFC, I guess actually NO has the tiebreaker but still, looking at our early schedule I'll take 4-1 and a QB as hot as anyone in the league, a back as good as anyone in the league when he hangs onto the ball and a defense not yet the sum of its parts and were 4-1. Pretty good season so far IMO :D :D :D

Another factor that should be in our favor is that having played last Thursday, we'll be coming off a mini bye, which should take some of the sting out of that east coast trip this weekend, while Cleveland will have to return from the west coast late tonight or early tomorrow and face us on a short week. That's not going to give them a lot of time to prepare for us.

Tonight's game will be interesting. Cleveland was everybody's favorite to break out this season. Indeed, when I went to Las Vegas last July, they had better odds of winning the Super Bowl than a lot of other playoff teams from last season, like us, the Eagles, Cowboys, Chargers, Bears, etc. There were only a handful of teams, namely the Pats, Saints, and Chiefs, that had better odds than the Browns. It will be interesting to see if the preseason hype lives up to reality. On the flip side of the coin, it will be our first look at the Niners, who are off to their best start in years.

If our defense can improve, we have a good shot at a run this year.

We should know in a couple of hours just how good the Niners are. They've only played 3 games, none of which have come against a 2018 playoff team.

At this point, I don't see a clear cut favorite in our conference. The Saints look good, but you have to wonder just how long they can ride Teddy Bridgewater while Brees heals, and neither the Cowboys or Packers looked very impressive yesterday. At this point, we have just as good of a chance as anyone else.

Nice to see the O outplaying the D for a change if you ask me.
Hopefully the D gets better and we keep winning.

Go Hawks!
