How Would You Spend 17million?

The 'second' FA market comes up in a few days. The players still out there can be signed without losing comp draft picks, which the Seahawks are supposed to be a windfall for the next draft.

Free Agents I'd like to see in Seattle this fall --
Shane Ray, Ziggy, Suh would be a good trio to start with... I think close to an extra 17m came off the books from Frank's trade. With the infamous 'one-year' prove-it contracts it could be a nice bonus.

Maybe a right tackle since we've given up on Ifedi. Some of these are signed or under restricted contracts, but here's a list to look at:

Not Suh, no! He's bad for morale. He's out of control too much. And he disappeared in the Super Bowl.

Suh takes up two blockers and would free up Reid a lot more the Stephens did. The rest of it, on a one-year deal, you should be able to live with. He wants to play on the West Coast. Maybe the Rah-Rah would work for one-year.

Didn't Pete and JS say after the draft that they wanted more 'tough' guys? Suh?

I would concentrate on DL.
There were a lot of high draft picks along the DL this year, so there will be a lot of
DLinemen cut as a result. So I would wait it out a little to get a chance on some
of the better cuts unless a great fit is still out there.

It's amazing how Suh's marketability has changed in just a year. Not sure how far he'd have to drop in price before we'd be interested in him.

If Jay Ajai's knee is healthy, he wouldn't be a bad pickup to back up Carson and Penny if one or both of them were to go down.

That's a good point I hadn't considered. If they can get good value on a good scheme fit, they should strike early for the peace of mind. But if they don't, I'll keep this in mind and stay calm.

Ziggy is costing only(!) 5.5m as a salary with 3m more if he reaches certain incentives. In the world of "Cap" I think the 8.5m comes off our books, leaving about 28m in Cap Space. I think we're going to see another big move in the next 2 weeks and it's on the D-Line.

Considering what our and Dallas' DE just went for, that is a bargain in so many ways. I know he will miss the first month of the season but still.... This could be a steal for us.

So far, that's just speculation:

Ansah played on a $17.143 million franchise tag last season and was limited to seven games by a shoulder injury that required surgery. That could keep him out until the start of training camp or longer; some league sources told Schefter they believe Ansah could miss the first month of the season, at least.

At this time, anything and everything written about next season is speculation.

That's true, but the way you worded your comment, ie "I know he's going to miss the first month of the season", indicated that you thought it was more than just speculation.

I guess I'm just not following you this morning. My point is even "IF" he misses the first month of the season, $8.5M compared to $21+M for a Defensive End COULD be a bargain for us. I didn't think I had to point out that he has to play the other 12 games of the regular season and any post season games. At this point, we ASSUME that all players will play the whole year.
