c_hawkbob's annual Three Deep Mock, v2019

Postby c_hawkbob » Sun Apr 07, 2019 6:56 am

It's that time again!

Choose 3 potential players per pick that we have right now, the first of the three that you list for a round is the pick you'd choose if it were a one per round Mock.

Scoring:
- 1 point for each player that we draft
- 1 point for the correct round drafted
- 1/2 point for each player from your mock that we sign as UDFA’s
- 1/2 point for a player you have listed first in the correct round.

Here's mine:

Round 1 (21)
1- Johnathan Abram, S, Mississippi State

2- Montez Sweat, ER, Mississippi State
3- Brian Burns, ER, Florida St

Round 3 (84)
1- Kaleb McGary, OT, Washington

2- Jaylon Ferguson, ER, Louisiana Tech
3- Deebo Samuel, WR, South Carolina

Round 4 (124)
1- L.J. Collier, DE, TCU

2- Gary Johnson, ILB, Texas
3- Ben Powers, G, Oklahoma

Round 5 (159)
1- Jazz Ferguson, WR, Northwestern St

2- Malik Gant, S, Marshall
3- Matt Gay, K, Utah

You've been doing this for quite some time and I've never participated, but with nothing better to do, I'll give it a shot.

Perhaps you can lure ObS out of the woodwork, too.

Hope so. If anybody knows ObS personally it'd sure be nice to here he's OK and just taking a break from the madness here till actual football time.

Good news indeed!

Although I would like to see you post more often. You're a great football mind and I always enjoyed your takes.

OK, I'll bite again this year.
It's more difficult than other years because we all know JS will trade down and maybe out of the 1st completely.
I can see a move to 29 with the Chiefs where the Chiefs select a WR or RB and another from the Giants to 37 if they
also see a WR at 29 they want so as to replace OBJ. As well, JS has said he wants to end up with 7 or 8 picks
when it's all over so who knows when some of these players will be selected.

Here's my guess for our draft:
Edit: I've added another pick in the 1st round because of the Clark trade.

Round 1 (21)

Jerry Tillery, DL, Notre Dame
NKeal Harry, WR Arizona State
Austin Bryant, Edge, Clemson

Round 1 (29)

Parris Cambell, WR, Ohio St
Jeffery Simmons, DL, Mississippi St
Terry McLaurin, WR, Ohio St

Round 3 (84)

Juan Thornhill, S, Virginia
Trysten Hill, DL, UCF
Dru Samia, G, Oklahoma

Round 4 (124)

Jace Sternberger, TE, Texas A&M
Khalen Saunders, DT, Western Illinois
Isiah Buggs, DL, Alabama

Round 5 (159)

Marvell Tell III, S, USC
David Montgomery, RB, Iowa State
BJ Autry, G, Jacksonville State

ObS gambling on a pre-draft RW trade maybe?!

Nice play if it happens!

I think we can safely eliminate the "maybe" as I don't think he's planning on Murray dropping to #21. :D

Well if he did drop that far it would rival the Diss that Arron Rodgers endured. :D

Can't count the second round 1 set there Riv, wouldn't be fair to those of us that already have it filled out will just 4 picks ... You'll get props but not points if any of those three hit.

I was going to ask about that, but I figured it was better to fill it out and not have to than the other way around.

Been lurking on here again now that it's draft time, I'll put in my 2 cents worth later today.

Thanks Bob for doing this mock, it's a lot of fun!

Round 1
Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, S Florida
N'Keal Harry, WR ASU
Juan Thornhill, S Virginia

Round 3
Chase Winovich, Edge Michigan
Oshane Ximines, Edge Old Dominion
Anthony Nelson, DE Iowa

Round 4
Gary Jennings, WR West Virginia
Trysten Hill, DT UCF
Terry McLaurin, WR Ohio St.

Round 5
Ben Banogu, Edge TCU
Marvell Tell, S USC
JJ Arcega-Whiteside, WR Stanford

I think we end up with 8 picks by the end of the draft. Edge, DT, S/Nickel hybrid, WR and RB are our tops needs in that order, IMO.

Not counting UDFA's

Govandals leads with 2.5 points for Jennings in the right round as his primary pick
Old but Slow is second with 2 points for Gary Jennings in the correct round
And then Me with 1 point for Collier

I'll post final points probably Monday, I', driving down to Florida right now (overnighting in Macon GA) and have a function Tomorrow night.

Looks like I get an extra half point for Jazz so:

Govandals wins with 2.5 points
ObS is second with 2 points
And I'm 3rd with 1.5 points

Thanks for playing!

I really like participating in these mocks. Thanks Bob for running it. Not to toot my own horn, but over on the FG site, I finished 4th out of 93 entries in their mock.

How does FG do theirs? If it's a three deep I', gonna call it a copy, I've been doing these since the State of Football forum's first year on Seahawks.com and I know it's totally organic ...

That said, no way I'd wanna administrate one for 93 entries! The dozen or so I get here and at the Blue is plenty!

BTW Grumpybear over at the Blue won overall with 3 points this year.

FG's is pretty simple. Submit a list of 20 players. The first player on the list is worth 30 pts, the second is worth 29 pts, third is 28 etc... so the last player on your list is worth 11 pts.

I scored 51, 28 for Jennings and 23 for Collier.

Cool, that's probably totally organic for them as well. Nice job!
