Let's hope he's got something left in the tank.

Bleh.... rebuilding move. Past their prime veteran, on minimal 1 yr deal to complete for roster spot..... smells like TO.

I'm not holding my breath. I'd bet even money that he won't even be on team come September.

Heard Jim and Pat talking on Sirius today about this move. They were alluding to the fact that Pete wants players competing, meaning practicing regularly.

Marshall has been injury plagued the last 2 years, so if he cannot remain healthy, they don't think he will crack the lineup, or will be cut if it becomes a problem during the season.

At 34, odds are against him, but when healthy 2 years ago, he put up nice numbers. His other knock is he can be the "diva" type, they were saying he would have to buy into what is going on in Seattle.

Probably worth the gamble at this point, but expectations definitely tempered.

Big bodied receiver, which PC loves. Not much to get excited about, though. Had an amazing season 3 years ago, then a mediocre year, then terrible. Not great QB play, so maybe with a good QB he can still produce 50 catches 600 yards and 5 TD’s. If he makes the team...

It takes bodies to run a training camp.

It helps if some of those bodies have significant NFL experience, even if your team is in a youth movement (actually especially if your team is in a youth movement!)

If some of those bodies show enough left in the tank to beat out the youngsters for a roster spot; more's the better.

Ironic that you should mention Dez....

...to discuss Marshall and Bryant, including what the 34-year-old Marshall brings to Seattle.
"Marshall has been a decent blocker," Kostos said. "But he can't run. His role will be 'be tall' which he is; out-jump guys in the end zone ... he could catch five to seven touchdowns."

Prisco then interjected, saying that this eliminates the 29-year-old Bryant from joining the Seahawks. Kostos and Prisco agree that Bryant likely won't end up a Packer either, especially due to Green Bay loading its roster up with young talent. Kostos then said that he believes that Bryant will be a Giant, to which Prisco replied "I don't like Dez in New York ... I don't think that's a good look."

He is this TC's T.O. as was stated above. I whole heartedly agree with RD that BM will NOT make the final 53.

About Dez, I don't know, To me there is little difference between Marshal and Bryant other than Dez is a bit younger. For me it would be a coin flip, but I would want neither on MY team or in MY locker room.

I'm going to predict now that he makes the team and he makes the starting lineup. I think teams will ignore him at their own expense. I also think he will make Penny, Baldwin and Lockett better.

It wouldn't surprise me if he made the team but it would to see him start. I think he'd be more likely to be a 10 or 15 play a game role player; specifically red zone and third down target.

He may get a 2nd wind, but even at full health, I'd much rather develop another WR at this point.

With all the other issues, it's easy to overlook that we need new young blood at the position.
I don't think we extend Tyler. Great kid, but not worth long term deal. PRich got money for mostly nothing, and Lockett would maybe find contract elsewhere.

I like Marshall's story and admire him a great deal for publicly discussing the issues that he's had to deal with. It's questionable I think that he'll even make the roster, but do wish him nothing but success if he does.

Ultimately, Locket values hinges on what he delivers, as with any player, if he dominates the league, he "deserves" big money long term deal. Seattle has to stop developing good to excellent players at WR for the league at some point, if not Locket then someone. It isn't coincidence that both Tate and Kearse blossomed outside of Seattle, both were good receivers in Seattle. Richardson's only true knock was health, and I understand not paying top dollar for him, the others never carried that baggage with them.

Eventually, apathy will bite you in the arse, if Seattle refuses to resign, or hold any of their receivers, nothing can be said when the receiving core resembles the line so many bemoan. Replacing players year in and year out with late round receivers or past their prime veterans isn't a recipe for continued success.

I'm a tweener on this, I think he wont be that bad, IF he can stay healthy; he won't be that great either, too old.

I figure it's a low risk deal that brings a quality veteran receiver into the mix to compete against the young players. He'll at least show them what it takes to play in the NFL.

Can certainly show them how to push off still... but I'm not ssue we have any physical specimens to use those abilities.

Darboh is a few lb's short of Marshall, but it's a lot about attitude. 6-2 and 220lbs is a pretty good size for a WR so learning how to push off and not get caught as well as using any physicality they possess might help him take a step up.

Yeah, I didn't see much physicality from Darboh, William's was that, which is what made that choice confusing.
