That's probably as good of an explanation as any. We're a run first team at heart, and as such, we need 10 players that are willing to lay out and throw a block. Additionally, other teams will sense when there's a WR on our roster that can't or won't block, and when they see him come into the game, it could tip our hand.
The good news is that our brain trust must be pretty happy with the WR's they kept or else they wouldn't have parted with a quality receiver like Williams.
