Looks like the Hawks are shopping Rubin, so the roster will probably change a LOT even after the cuts/aquisitions.
Do you have any surprise cuts?
I don't know if it's a surprise but I think Vannett will stay over Swoops.
Also think Jefferson doesn't make it, and maybe Thorpe, although he has a lot of value on ST as well. Desir will make the 53 with Elliott being IR'd. Coleman will make it since he was traded for just a day ago, and Brock was traded to Minny.
After hearing Pete talk about Boykin's playing Thursday I think we go with Davis.

Torn on possibly losing Rubin. He's been a consistent and reliable presence on the D-Line for the last two years. Hasn't missed a game.
The Broncos are being talked up as the most likely suitor, and, if the compensation is good enough, they'll probably pull the trigger.

So far today:
Rogers
Davis (RB)
Pericak
Moore
Jefferson
Collins
Thompson (OL)
Jefferson is a surprise. I suspect he is hurt.

Surprised Qinton got cut. Alex was gone when Carson all but snatched the job w/ his beastly pre-season.

Davis will be picked up by some team. He's a hard runner with good explosion.
I suspect some of these guys will end up on the PS, but there are so many cuts at once players may get lost in the shuffle by teams.

I imagine they have extra people helping in front offices this season, just to track. 1184 players cut in one day is nuts!

I read they do, Greg. A lot of college scouts are in offices helping sort through the many many many players being released. Per Pat Kirwin, anyway.

It will still be pretty intense with so much changing so quickly. It would probably be like the old stock market where everyone is yelling their price at the commodities hoping to get their bid in first.
Chaos in the FO's around the league the first year as teams figure out how best to handle this new dynamic. For the GM's, it might be as much fun as Draft days.

I would imagine they have a draft-board style set-up going...listing cuts by each team so it is easy to see.

Rubin cut

Joey Hunt gone as well. Probably because of Pocic's versatility.

Sad to see Rubin go; I saw the Hunt cut coming and frankly, I was never quite sure why he was drafted.

I guess it's because we were having problems at C and Hunt did grade out near the top of his class for not making mistakes.
A late round choice who was worth taking a chance on to see if he could elevate his game to the pro level even if he is a little small.

Yeah, I guess NH. He never seemed Seahwky to me, though. I hope he gets picked up.

Marsh traded to NE

Yup Marsh traded for a 7th round pick. Basically we got our 7th back from the Coleman trade with N.E. BUT, we also get a 5th rounder as well.
Also Hawks trade with KC for Isaiah Battle O T.

I was hoping Marsh was going to take a big jump, but with Richardson there are too many DE's.
I was reading the Richardson also played some OLB along with DE and DT. Pete loves that versatility along the DL.

KOMO reports that Kasen Williams didn't make the cut.
Surprising to me if true.

I'm really surprised Kasen Williams was cut, he worked hard for a spot on the roster.
Scratchin my head on that one. No doubt he will get picked up.

Williams and Rubin are the two biggest surprises IMO.

I'm kinda surprised Tedric Thompson made it, although I get his draft status, he was burned severely vs. the Chargers.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say the current group of WR has 1 that seem to be injury prone (Richardson) and one coming off a BAD injury (Lockett). The Hawks had better get Williams and Lawler back onto the PS today.

This redditor looked at Williams in the OAK game and it suddenly cutting Williams makes a whole lot of sense:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Seahawks/comme ... _week_4_a/TL;DR version: Williams both hates blocking and sucks at it. A secondary issue is that he doesn't get good separation, and getting separation is a more valuable skill than winning contested balls on go routes.

IMO those are some pretty sweeping analyses on the strength of a single game's evaluation. I thought he's played his way to a roster spot, or at least (if he isn't snapped up elsewhere) a practice squad spot.

The Williams cut is a head scratcher for sure to all of us. I was listening to a Siriux/SM interview with John Clayton yesterday and he was talking about the Kearse trade. He basically said Kasen was penciled in now as the 4th WR, but hours later he was cut.
There must be reasons though as he seemed to pass our eye test. The article above about his blocking skills and separation issues must go deeper than just the 1 game, because receiving wise he did everything asked. He has looked pretty good the last 2 pre seasons in terms of going up and catching the ball.
Oh, and Sherm is not happy about the cut either and is voicing his displeasure about it via Twitter.

I too was shocked by Kasen being cut. Irrespective of his alleged lack of blocking or separation talents, I'm equally (ok, not quite) concerned that we only kept 5 receivers. And if healthy, it'd be a pretty solid group. BUT...Has P-Rich made it through a four game stretch EVER? I love his play and huge upside, but he is one of those injury prone people, or so it seems. Tyler has proven to be exceptional and a game-changer, but we all watched his ankle flopping around the end zone last Christmas. Doug is Doug and we love him, Tanner's height is good and he's a solid #5 in the league (though w/ limited knowledge I have, I'd have preferred Williams (who in fairness was also often injured). Darboh didn't show me much.
All this to say, 5 doesn't seem like enough depth w/ the injury history (maybe they count McKissic as a WR?) or just coming back from injury. We are too thin at this position group.
Kasen Williams was just claimed by the Browns. Yuck! I wish him luck.

I thought they would retain Williams as well. A lot of Seattle players could blur the line at WR, Graham, Prosise, McKissic.....

Jefferson to the Rams and Desir to the Colts. Collins signed to Ravens P.S.
Swoopes resigned ans well as Hunt to Hawks P.S. Also David Moore and Garrison Smith.

I was just trying to give the TL;DR version of that reddit post for people who didn't want to click on it. It wasn't my assessment. I agree that saying he
can't block or get separation is too sweeping for a single game analysis.
That's not to say I don't agree with parts. I do. I think that effort does seem to show up every game if it's there. Sometimes guys just have bad games where they can't catch, complete a pass, break tackles, etc. But think of the effort guys on this team. How often have you seen a lazy game from Earl? From Sherm? From Baldwin? I'd think that if Williams was a willing blocker, he wouldn't take nearly a whole game off from it, especially given the stakes of these preseason games. And given the premium placed on the run game in this offense, a bubble player taking a game off from blocking is probably enough to get a pink slip from Pete.

Don't forget that Williams had already been on the P.S. for 2 years prior. The FO had seen enough to know that he's one dimensional.
