There is a lot to know in the next two weeks...injuries, trades, other typical JS/PC stuff, but I created this list on the 16th and tweaked it last night.

Here are my best guesses for the final roster as of August 21st (starters in bold):

S - Thomas, Chancellor, McDougald (I think we will see a lot of McDougald and less of Willhoite), Hill & Thompson

Agree with all of those...

At WR the Richardson pain train is wearing thin. I would like to find a way to keep McEvoy. Darboh also needs to show something vs McEvoy in these last 2 games. Just because he was drafted doesn't give him a leg up on a guy with Mc's size and a years worth of experience.

Bass has been playing out of his mind.

I'd dump Kearse and keep McAvoy......

Agreed. Whether that happens or not is anyone's guess.

The only thing keeping Kearse on the team is his contact. If they cut him it is 4 million against the cap. After this year unless he balls out he will be gone.

But I seriously doubt they cut him.

How is McEvoy's blocking? I've never paid attention, but that's one of the things that I know the Hawks tend to value more than most fans and is part of the reason they seem to like Kearse more than we do. If McEvoy can match Kearse there, I can definitely see him winning the spot.

Although, whether Richardson or Kearse or Darboh loses their spot is anyone's guess. Like you, though, I would probably put Kearse first on the chopping block.

Schneider has certainly shown a willingness to get rid of guys if he thinks it will improve the team, even if they bring a cap hit (Cary Williams, J'Marcus Webb come to mind).

Here is the EXACT reason Kearse will be here this year. It doesn't have anything to do with blocking or catching. Cary Williams and Webb were atrociously bad players that were mistakes. Kearse has made a ton of big plays for the team over the years.

The Hawks can cut him and save money, albeit not very much. IMO the reason that he will not be cut is that they want to give him one more year to get back to being the player he had been. The reality is that it seems like he has already maximized what he can accomplish in the NFL. He is not especially big, fast, or quick. He doesn't create separation or have excellent hands. He is a really good teammate and a good blocker. The Hawks have other guys that can do those things and if Kearse has another year like last year he is gone, but I do think they give him 1 more year...
